Rising Stars: Meet Maggie Hudson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Hudson.

Hi Maggie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in Germany as a competitive dancer, I’ve always loved the performing arts and was always fascinated by the circus arts. When I came to the US, I became a group fitness instructor and personal fitness trainer. Once I had kids, I started teaching children’s dance classes and enjoyed choreographing dances for recitals. Nine years ago, I finally had the chance to get a “taste of Circus” trying the high-flying trapeze and I was hooked. Shortly after, I started taking aerial silks lessons and I never looked back. I’ve been performing aerial silks for several years now and I absolutely love choreographing themed shows.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wanted to be in the Circus ever since I was a kid, but there were no opportunities for me and I pretty much gave up on that dream. It’s interesting how my path led me through teaching group fitness, personal fitness training and teaching dance, keeping me in shape so I would still be able to do circus arts when I finally had the opportunity several decades later.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My company does aerial acrobatics entertainment. We perform at festivals, birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate events, etc. My specialty is choreographing themed shows and we incorporate props and even some acting. We also offer ambient performances, as well as aerial champagne pouring.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like about Atlanta is that there is so much to do. I really enjoy everything from going to the theater, comedy clubs, festivals and nice restaurants. There’s always something interesting going on. The thing I don’t like about Atlanta is the traffic.
