Today we’d like to introduce you to Marge Nellis.
Hi marge, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I lost my job due to elimination, and at 59 I found myself at a crossroads. Instead of letting that moment define me, I decided to create something new—my YouTube channel, Imagine Over 50. The channel is all about reconnecting with your inner child, because that’s where we find peace, joy, hope, and the ability to rebuild our self-esteem. I wanted to show others that starting over is possible, no matter your age, and that imagination and creativity can help us heal and grow. I tell my viewers, they are Strong, They are intelligent, They are Worthy, and best of all they are resilient.
Alongside this, I followed another passion of mine—travel. That’s how MC Nellis Travel came about. The ‘M’ stands for me, and the ‘C’ is for my husband Chris. We’ve been married for 28 years and share a love of exploring the world together. Our agency is focused on helping people, especially those over 45, create worry-free, meaningful journeys—whether it’s a honeymoon, destination wedding, or a bucket-list trip.
Atlanta has been my home for over 21 years, and it’s here that I’ve been able to reinvent myself. What I love about this city is its spirit of resilience and creativity—it’s a place where hidden gems can grow into something special, and I’m honored to be part of that story.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Losing my job at 59 was not only a financial challenge but also an emotional one. You start to question your worth, your skills, and where you fit in a world that often seems to favor younger workers. That was a huge hurdle for me—feeling invisible at a time when I still had so much to give.
Another struggle has been learning how to start over from scratch. I had to teach myself how to create content, build an online presence, and even navigate the world of entrepreneurship. At times it felt overwhelming, but I reminded myself to focus on small steps forward.
What’s helped me is leaning into my creativity and refusing to give up on myself. I’ve turned struggles into lessons, and those lessons have become part of what I now share with others—because I know I’m not the only one facing these challenges.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I actually wear many creative hats, and all of them come from the same heart.
The first is Imagine Over 50, my YouTube channel and podcast. It’s a community for people navigating life after 50—especially those who’ve faced job loss or major transitions. What makes us unique is that we don’t just talk about challenges; we focus on imagination, creativity, and reconnecting with the inner child. That inner child is where you rediscover peace, joy, and hope. Through stories, inspiration, and creative activities, I help people rebuild their self-esteem and remember it’s never too late to start over. We also have a supportive Facebook community page for Imagine Over 50, created for anyone seeking encouragement and hope.
The second is MC Nellis Travel, the agency my husband Chris and I built together. The “M” is for me, and the “C” is for Chris—we’ve been married 28 years, and travel has always been a big part of our journey. We specialize in romance and life-milestone travel: honeymoons, destination weddings, anniversaries, and bucket-list trips for people over 45. What sets us apart is the personal touch—we don’t just book vacations; we create meaningful, worry-free experiences that bring couples closer together.
I also come from a family of writers and painters, which keeps me deeply connected to my creative side. For me, that creativity often shows up in writing whimsical short stories that make people laugh and enjoy my sense of humor.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that both Imagine Over 50 and MC Nellis Travel are rooted in empowerment. Whether it’s giving someone the courage to reimagine their life after 50 or helping a couple create memories that last a lifetime, my mission is the same: to inspire, uplift, and remind people to feel alive again.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love creating—whether it’s telling a story, crocheting something new, or planning a trip that sparks joy for someone else. I also love traveling, baking, and savoring those little everyday moments that remind me of the beauty in life. Spending time with my husband of 28 years and sharing adventures together is one of my greatest joys.
What I dislike? Honestly, there isn’t much—unless you count liver and onions. The traffic in Atlanta can be a nightmare, but beyond that, I try not to dwell on dislikes. Instead, I focus on what I value most: showing up fully—spiritually, creatively, and authentically. Living each day with purpose and integrity is what I truly love.
Atlanta is such a vibrant, creative city, and I’m grateful to live here. Like any big city, it has its challenges—the traffic can be overwhelming and sometimes makes you think twice about crossing town for an event. But I also see opportunities. I wish there were even more spaces that highlight and support people in midlife who are reinventing themselves. There is so much talent and creativity here after 50, and it deserves to be celebrated.
