Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Louredo.
Hi Maya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a Chemical engineer that felt in love with the permanent makeup world in 2019. I am originally from Brazil and just moved to the United States. In 2018 I was frustrated with my job and due to my mother’s insistence, I took a microblading training. I didn’t like it at first, however she had told to so many people that I had to do some of her friend’s eyebrows. Once I started, I decided to study and improve my technique and then more clients started to come. When I saw I was so into the eyebrow world that it seemed that I was doing it for years. So, I decided to rent a room a start doing cosmetic tattooing full-time. In no time I started gaining some recognition, winning championships and becoming a reference in natural-looking cosmetic tattooing procedures. Currently, I am the micro blading Champion of the Biggest Championship in South America (BSB PMU 2022). After all that I decided to pursue an International Career and started looking for opportunities in America last year. Due to my tittles and awards, I was granted an artist visa and now I am starting my international career in the USA, specifically in Georgia.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely, it hasn’t. First, I struggled with the technique itself. Trying so hard to get it right and understand the inks and machines technically. After that, starting my own business wasn’t easy. Be able to manage the business, do the marketing and make sure the customer service was on the point had taken my sleep away. and Of course, to go through comparison and insecurities was a long road. The good thing is that the entrepreneur grows with the business and the big challenges from the past became easy at a certain point. Now I have new challenges to overcome with my international career. To conclude, Challenges will always exist and how you face them will determine your future.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a cosmetic tattoo artist expert in hyperrealistic eyebrow hair stroke technique. I won international titles and many championships with my realistic technique which briefly explaining I mimic the client’s natural eyebrow hair movement and color in order to fill the eyebrow in the most natural way possible.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I would say definitely be part of the industry, be part of conferences and conventions. Participate in workshops, meet new people at every chance, learn and share what have you know.
