Today we’d like to introduce you to Meiko Gray.
Hi Meiko, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a 42 year old certified personal trainer that takes a holistic approach to training for autistic, elderly & disabled individuals. I have been a coaching about health and wellness for the last 3 years but recently became certified as a personal trainer 2 years ago. Although I have a love for fitness, my passion is to help people and show them how to live a better quality life. This became about when I started experiencing illnesses and issues within myself that prompted me to take action and approach to find a better way of living. My goal is to educate and help as many people as I can to live healthy as possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Training these particular clients with disabilities, neurodivergence, or age-related challenges requires compassion, creativity, and patience. Due to there limitations, you have to create programs that are suitable for each client and their situation. In order to do this, you have to learn them and be able to build a good rapport before you can start to yield any results. Needless to say its very time consuming but the reward is worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialized in mind-body connection, functional strength and adaptive/accessible fitness. I help the clients feel safe, supported, and make sure their physical progress becomes sustainable. Also when implementing a holistic approach, training doesn’t simply coach movement, it encourages confidence, resilience, and inner peace. I build relationships that honor each person’s identity, abilities, and goals. It’s important to create safe spaces where growth feels possible. I am proud to say that I have helped people from all ages and walks of life.
