Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Mitchell
Hi Mike, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Smyrna is Fabulous as a way to unite the LGBTQ+ Community and our Allies. We were coming out a a Global Pandemic and it seemed that communites, in general, were losing touch with one-another. I wanted to foster a sense of belonging and welcome in my community and so we united 🙂
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been an interesting Journey to say the least. While we have had tremendous support from the Community it is hard to fathom that more than 3,000 people rely on us every year to be innovative and fresh. We have to constantly pivot to stay relevent but it’s a Very Fun Ride!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a non-profit and we focus on providing resources and activity for the LGBTQ+ Community and our Allies. We believe that inclusion is the key to a safe and happy community.
How do you think about happiness?
When I see the smiles on the faces of people who attend our events. It’s great knowing that they have added us as a trusted resource to accompany them on their journey
