Rising Stars: Meet Mimilacedme Miller of Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimilacedme Miller

Hi Mimilacedme , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
So my Name is Mia Mimi for short hints the name mimilacedme, I am from Chicago Il. I started in hair very young my mom was a “Kitchen” stylist but she always had a job. So coming up I would see my mom work and come home and do hair, her clients loved her, my sister is a braider my aunt Grandma etc. so it definitely ran in the family. As I got older I realized like I really like doing hair so I really started taking it seriously and enrolled in Cosmetology school, I started to do all my friends and thier family, I moved to Iowa in 2001 and I really started to blossom in the hair, but I still worked so I could never give it my full attention. so up until 2020 when I moved to ATL I used hair as a side hustle same as my mom.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road I’ve had many times of burn out, self doubt and regret, because being an independent worker or “ entrepreneur “ and trying to solely rely on your talents to get you to your life you invisioned can sometimes seem silly or unrealistic if you look at it from a survival point of view , I always say to be an entrepreneur or work for yourself you got to be a lil out there because, our bodies natural instincts are to avoid pain and the pain of being an entrepreneur is definitely not for the faint of heart or if you doubt who you are in anyway, this life isnt for you cause there will be many moments of self doubt wanting to give up and just go to work and live comfortably, but again from early on I knew who I was at heart, I just had to believe it myself: Now here we are I am a Celebrity hairstylist as well as a rising podcaster.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a celebrity hairstylist by trade and practice. I specialize in providing beauty services to some of the most prominent influencers and tv personalities in Atlanta. I think what sets me apart is privacy and my welcoming demeanor. I treat all
My clients with respect and I respect their privacy. I love the social media wave for stylist it’s very lucrative and gets you notice but what provide by being more about the client then the content. I’ve worked with a lot people and I keep my clients private. I think people miss that. Just getting your hair done and not having to pose for a million videos post etc. that’s why my clients are always loyal and understanding even when I step away from the chair for a while they give me that grace.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for people just starting out, I know all this can be intimidating and it may seem like you’re so far from where you wanna be, but patience and persistence is key be patient with yourself but also be persistent with yourself, this is your journey as long as you love and believe in what you do, that’s all the motivation you need. Be your self your people will find you. Study your craft never stop learning or get complacent with where you are comfortability is where dreams go to die So stay true to yourself and your dreams. No there’s nothing I wish I would have known when starting out I know this is cliche but Experience is in fact the best teacher, so give yourself room to make mistakes be ok and learn from them were all on our own unique journey.
