Today we’d like to introduce you to Miss Storm.
Hi Miss, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Northern Ohio and began singing at a very early age. I was performing in talent shows in Elementary School, Band, and Theatre in High School, and singing in the Choir at my local Church, which led to me joining a gospel tour led by Kirk Franklin and The Family.
While on tour, I underwent extensive vocal training by gospel legends like Hezekiah Walker, and that’s how my music journey began.
Fast forward Twenty years later
I am now a Platinum Award Winning Songwriter, Music Publisher, and Artist living in Atlanta, Georgia.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started out in the entertainment business as a teenager, so like many young adults, I had to bump my head a few times to learn what not to do, and 20 years later, I’m still learning. I am a student of life; I never stop learning or pushing the envelope.
I have evolved as an artist and entrepreneur as the music business is a forever-changing one; nothing ever stays the same.
The road to success is never an easy one, but I always keep my end goal in mind and persevere through the trials and tribulations as they arise.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on? What sets you apart from others?
I wear a lot of hats in the entertainment industry: as a hip-hop/soul artist, I pride myself on speaking about the hard-to-have conversations and issues that affect my community and women who look like me. I believe in Women’s empowerment and Self Love.
As the C.E.O of Earkandi Productions, I also write, consult, and develop for another artist as well.
Over the last 20 years, I have earned many accolades for my penmanship and creative contributions, such as:
Several Ascap Awards, An Ohio Hip Hop Award, Single of the Year award, and The Golden Pen Award
I believe one of the things that set me apart from other creatives is my unique sound and my topic of choice.
I like to create music based on real-life experiences. I strive to encourage growth, self-respect and bring balance to the game.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The main takeaway I’ve learned from the trials and errors of my past is that:
“Everything is temporary. Nothing lasts forever!”
“When I fall, I get back up quickly. I never stay down long; I’ve mastered bouncing back!!”
Being successful starts in your mind way before it’s a reality.
Your happiness is based on your perspective, and your mindset. Build a strong mental foundation to be able to withstand any crisis that may come in your life because we don’t have control of anything in this world but ourselves and how we respond to the issues that arise in life.
I pray I meditate, and I remove myself from people places and things that don’t serve the person I aim to be.
