Today we’d like to introduce you to Moriah Rasberry.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always been a creative with an entrepreneurial spirit, growing up I desired to be a professional makeup artist, so that was the dream I chased up through college. I saw a great deal of success, from having my work in magazines, on billboards, and even working with some celebrities, however I started to grow bored of the craft. One thing about me is I strive to only do things in life that I’m passionate about and that brings me joy so I decided to let go of my MUA journey. As I continued in my life, I noticed I had a passion for art in VARIOUS FORMS, not just makeup. From there, I stepped into modeling, film and launched BERRYPRESSED, a luxury press-on nail business that specializes in custom hand-painted designs. I am extremely excited for our website to launch in Q1 of 2023.
The modeling became something I never knew I needed, it was a secret passion only discovered once I decided to step in front of the camera. That eventually led me to having the opportunity to work on set with people like Tyler Perry and Will Packer. I even had the opportunity to have my nails showcased on multiple women on set.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! I’ve always had a great life with many opportunities; however, it has not been an easy road. From surviving a category 5 hurricane, sexual assault, homelessness and so much more, The universe gave me every excuse to quit but I did not allow that to stop me or deter me from my goals. If anything, the obstacles I faced pushed me harder because if I can survive. Those experiences it means I can accomplish literally anything I set out to do.
I am grateful for each obstacle because they each encompassed their own very special life lesson that I hold close to me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business BERRYPRESSED, as stated earlier, is a luxury press-on nails business, Each set is custom-sized and crafted to the needs/wants of the client. Each design is hand-painted, similar to a lot of luxury brands that have in-house artisans. We also specialize in all-natural cuticle oils and exfoliating hand creams that not only hydrate your skin for long-lasting moisture, but they also fight bacteria, infections, and more. I am most proud of the responses to the launch of my business, I was extremely weary as to how the response would be due to me being known for being a makeup artist, however everyone who supported me in my prior career was so receptive and supportive.
Apart from my nail business, I am most proud of my development in the modeling/film industry. I have had several shoots with celebrity photographers and luxury brands and have even been in magazine features strictly for my modeling. Growing up in a black household, Tyler Perry has always been a household name and a great example of a successful black man, so to now have the pleasure of working on two different series of his, makes me immensely proud at myself for never giving up.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I feel like Covid-19 opened a huge door of opportunity, especially for anyone that felt stuck in the 9-5 life, like me. I noticed that the opportunity to start a new business was better than ever during Covid and that’s exactly what I did.
It also opened my eyes to creating more streams of passive income and choosing better long-term investments.
