Rising Stars: Meet Naya Ashley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naya Ashley.

Naya Ashley

Hi Naya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am from Portsmouth, Virginia, and currently based in Atlanta. I am the CEO of NASH, and gained attention for my work as a published celebrity stylist, author, and coach. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business Management at Old Dominion University and furthered my studies at Mod’Spe, a prestigious fashion-business school in Paris, France. Upon graduating college, I relocated to Atlanta, where my styling career began.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In all honesty, I don’t believe that anything is meant to be completely smooth and a walk in the park. I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ, and I believe that we are meant to face struggles to become more dependent upon Him. With that being said, of course I faced struggles on my journey as an entrepreneur. I embarked on this career path fully aware that it wouldn’t be perfect. In the very beginning, my biggest challenge was setting boundaries. It became very challenging to build and keep a credible portfolio when many people in the industry expect you to work for little to nothing while also expecting you to remain 100% exclusive to them. This has become a norm, and it wasn’t until proper boundaries were set that I started to be paid my worth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most known for my daring, viral looks on some really notable women including Dess Dior, De’arra, DreamDoll, Cuban Link, Lady London, Monica, and the list goes on. I believe my willingness to stand out is what sets me apart, and is what helped me gain so much traction in such a short period of time. Furthermore, I am currently in the production phase of my highly anticipated clothing line. I am looking forward to what this will bring. Stay tuned.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself owning my own showroom, providing iconic pieces to stylists like myself. I also see myself venturing into film.
