Rising Stars: Meet New New MUA

Today we’d like to introduce you to New New MUA.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I never planned to become a beautician. I just sort if came into it. I wanted to learn to sculpt my eyebrows. As I was learning to perfect that, I just sort of noticed how therapeutic it was the more I got into makeup products. I even found the makeup school I attended on an accident! I was trying to find some different makeup stores in Atlanta on Google, and IMA-Atlanta was the very first link that popped up. I looked through their website and was impressed by the curriculum. I honestly didn’t know how I would afford it at the time, but every day I would just affirm by saying, “I will be a certified makeup artist by the end of 2020!” Well, let’s just say on November 20, 2020, I became a graduate of IMA-Atl! I have connected with some wonderful people ever since! Everything that I have done thus far has been affirmed and manifested by me. The Universe and my ancestors have truly been guiding my path and I am so grateful for that!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At the beginning, there were so many obstacles that made it difficult to stay focused. The company I was working for at the beginning of this journey really drained me mentally. I had some family issues that were draining me even more on top of what I was dealing with work-wise. I also had major relationship problems with the man I was with for 5 years at the time. I was sent to work from home due to the “PLANdemic”. Which was great at first (I mean who doesn’t want to work in their pjs??)! But I am an energy-driven, energy-consuming person; an empath. So dealing with the type of clients I was dealing with on a daily basis in my home, not being able to leave that negative energy in an office and having it lingering around in my safe haven was beginning to be too much. All of that weighed on me. Also, the fact that I was on my deathbed in June of 2020 played a big part in the shift of my focus. Almost losing my life really re-wired me. It shifted my beliefs majorly and it shifted the direction of my life. There was just way too much consuming me in a negative way. There are definitely still obstacles that enter on my path. But, I have learned how this Universe truly works, so now it’s becoming easier for me to navigate through those obstacles. Once you learn not to stress over things outside of your control and have an attitude of gratitude no matter what your circumstances are, it becomes a breeze.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a traveling/film set makeup artist. I specialize in skincare and makeup applications. I am most known for keeping makeup applications natural looking and skin matching with foundation to a tee. I am most proud of stepping into the unknown and allowing myself to be connected with some of the most talented individuals in the film industry. What sets me apart from others is my passion for art. I don’t do this for the money, although the money isn’t bad! I mean I have done so much TFP(Time For Print) jobs which are not paid majority of the time, so that let’s you know this is my passion. I also do this for the satisfaction of my clients. As long as they’re satisfied, I am absolutely satisfied!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
This is a never dying industry. I only see it going up from here. That’s only speaking on the industry as a whole. Individually, I have a big vision for my brand. I’m talking going beyond other brands! So in the next 5-10 years, I see millionaire to billionaire status for myself!
