Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Vogel. Them and their team share their story with us below:
False Digits was started in Lincoln, NE and has started planting the seeds of growth in Atlanta, GA. The brand was founded by Liv, a UNL Fine Art Graduate. Now, Liv is a self-taught, licensed nail tech and documented artist with one goal in mind- to help people through her art. 💕
What leads up to Press On Nails particularly? By Liv’s birthday in 2019, she was tired of the standard process of nails. But sadly without nails, Liv felt like something was missing. During this time, she was artistically expressing herself by cutting and sewing her own clothing, trying out new hairstyles, and learning new makeup techniques. Nails really weren’t too far around the corner! With that in mind, False Digits was born, a brand that empowers and includes all and encourages self-expression through nails!
Liv has traveled around the country with False Digits looking for the perfect home base, but with an e-commerce store, the location does not matter. We service friends across the country and will continue to expand to other countries as we progress!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The life of an entrepreneur is never a straight shot down the road. Many hurdles were placed in front of me for a reason- to test me, to push me, and to see if I had it in me to keep going. The hurdles will never stop, but that does not scare me. I welcome them with open arms!
Being a start-up business, some basic hurdles I have faced related to business, financing, budgeting, organization, fulfilling orders, learning nail medium skills, growing in graphic design/website design/content creation and more. You wear so many hats when you are a business owner and until your business has flourished enough to support employees, you work 80-100 hours a week to keep up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Before starting False Digits, I was known for my portrait art. Receiving a degree in Fine Art really catapulted me into painting and drawing which were my specialties in college.
After college, I was known for my cut-and-sew clothing, my commission work, my large-scale murals/larger than life sculpture paintings, and cover art for musicians. I had delved deeply in the graphic art world and stepped back from the physical art world.
False Digits keeps my Fine Art degree alive with the hand painting on each tiny nail.
How do you think about happiness?
Happiness is not something that I shoot for anymore. I shoot for a purpose-driven life. I wake up when I choose to- that’s happiness. I set my schedule- that’s happiness. I create art every single day- that’s happiness. I choose what I eat, what exercise I partake in, friends I spend time with, and media I take in – that’s happiness.
Happiness is in the small things that I get to say yes and no to. Happiness is being able to choose and knowing I get to be the director of my life. The universe plays a major role in who I meet and various opportunities I get, but getting up every day with the intent to grow is what moves me toward living my most authentic, happy life. Happiness is fleeting- deep morals and long-term goals aren’t. I try to revel in each moment because at one point, this was everything I asked for.
