Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar “Liloz” Soto.
Hi Omar “Liloz”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ever since I was kid, I was passionate about drawing and creating stories in my mind. I started in the world as a visual artist studying on my own and being self-taught, then I started university as a Graphic Design student and an apprentice for an Audiovisual production company for three years where I learned and gained experience in audiovisual techniques, animation, graphic design, and a general understanding of image formats, sizes, prints, and its psychology.
After acquiring the necessary knowledge to undertake as a professional and independent visual artist, I quit the production company in search of something else. After meeting several people in the music and audiovisual industry, I was presented with the opportunity to create my first audiovisual production. With the help of a friend, we started to create several music videos of various national and international artists. Some are better known than others but all with a dream of bringing their vision to life. Later on, I decided to take on a new challenge. Since my adolescence, I have loved gastronomy, colors, flavors, textures, and aromas. But I had never taken the next step in documenting it. Practicing and improving from the street food stall in the neighborhood, my photographic talent began to receive recognition. I was given the opportunity to form a team as a food photographer and videographer. My career began to grow even more. I managed to travel throughout Venezuela, Aruba, Chile, and Argentina. From local bakers to the most outstanding chefs from all over South America.
Later on, I managed to go to Aruba with a TV channel to film a major TV program. Then I meet a well-known Entrepreneur and got to know the whole island with my audiovisual work. From a wide range of clients from construction companies, hotels to nightclubs and luxury restaurants. I was able to acquire better production equipment to further improve my quality of work.
Beginning of 2018, I started a new stage in my life and I decided to explore new horizons and grow as a professional. I came to the United States with a dream of doing what I love, I started working with companies in Miami, West Palm Beach, New York, and Los Angeles as a graphic designer, video editor, and videographer. I am currently (2021) based in Atlanta GA, where I increasingly undertake my art as a filmmaker working as a director and editor with many artists and others such as T-Pain and the family of Lamar Odom. Also, working on some featured and pilot projects as several music videos and commercial work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Traveling to multiple countries has forced me to start over ever time I land. Although it has been a challenge to build myself up from zero, it has allowed me to grow as a professional artist in my field.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do filming, editing, graphic design, photography, and anything related to the visual arts. I am the most proud that I won an Emmy for the best promotional campaign in 2021. What sets me apart from the rest is that I don’t just have a lot of experience in one field, I am skilled in multiple.
