Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Haynes.
Princess, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out as a young girl full of life, unaware of the trials and tribulations life had in store for me. Becoming a mom at an early age was a turning point—it pushed me to grow up quickly because I wanted to be a role model for my child, ensuring he had a better life than I did. Despite becoming a mom in the 10th grade, I finished school and went to college, driven by the desire to set a good example. By age 20, I had two children looking up to me.
My journey led me to the corporate world, where I was conditioned to believe that success was found. Though people told me I was good at it, I never loved it. I stayed because the money was good, but my heart was always in helping others and sharing stories. I learned early on that people grow by listening to others’ experiences, whether they aim to be better or find motivation to keep going despite their struggles.
This passion inspired me to start my own show, “From The Bottom To The Top,” where I shared stories to help people grow. The timing, right before Covid, was perfect as many were struggling mentally and needed support. Through the show, I met an executive from 2HotRadio who offered me another chance to be on the radio. Previously, while juggling my corporate job, I was on the MOB Radio Show, interviewing artists. Although I wasn’t financially ready to fully pursue my plan back then, I knew I had to start somewhere.
Once I saw my potential at 2HotRadio, I began planning my exit from the corporate world. I continued my show, worked in corporate, and contributed to the radio station. Gradually, I proved my worth at 2HotRadio, which allowed me to quit my day job and chase my dreams. While I had to pause my show due to the costs, I integrated my passion into my work at 2HotRadio. Now, we help artists and answer their questions to aid their growth in the industry. I still host interviews, welcoming both artists and everyday people who want to share their stories.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been learning the ins and outs of the business, preparing to grow my own venture. My goal is to build an empire I can pass on to my children. I take it one day at a time, focusing on my weight loss journey and honing my skills. Despite the challenges, I’m proud of where I am today—I didn’t let the rough days break me or the doubters shake me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve faced many struggles throughout my life, starting from childhood when I never knew if the next meal would come or if I’d have to witness my parents fighting again. On top of that, I was constantly called names and told I’d never amount to anything. At 15, I got pregnant, which meant quitting basketball and track to focus on my child while still going to school. I remember my child running to meet my school bus when I got home.
After graduation, I moved out of my parents’ house and relocated to Atlanta, where I faced new challenges. People took advantage of my kindness, seeing it as a weakness. This experience taught me valuable lessons. I worked jobs where people didn’t accept me because of my skin color and others who tried to undermine me by claiming I wasn’t “black enough” to criticize them. Despite this, I pushed for change, advocating for more Black people in communities and workplaces that resisted us, showing why our presence was essential.
In my corporate job, I dealt with disrespect due to my race. Although I made the company millions in months, they kept me around but never let me advance or meet the right people, as it benefited them to hold me back. I reached a breaking point and quit, not because I was working in radio, but because I couldn’t take the disrespect any longer. When I quit, some people were upset, questioning how I’d pay my bills. It was a major setback, but I didn’t let it break me. I work hard every day to make a way and refuse to settle for a job just for the money because all money isn’t good money.
Yes, I still struggle, but I know struggles don’t last forever. Reflecting on everything I’ve been through, I remind myself that if I can overcome all those challenges, I can get through anything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for my personality because it stands out in any room I’m in. I believe in happiness, which means laughing, being goofy, dancing, and just having a great time. With the work I do, I get to incorporate all of that while showing that I’m a professional who can help a business grow.
As the Operations Manager at 2HotRadio, I ensure all operations run smoothly, from the backend to the frontend. I stay in communication with our customers, answering their questions and helping them understand what we offer, which brings more business to the company. Additionally, I contribute ideas for growth and assist in implementing them, working on the backend to build and execute plans.
I also host a show on 2HotRadio The Party App every Wednesday from 6 pm to 8 pm EST called “What’s Real Wednesdays,” where I deliver nothing but the real—no gossip, no fluff, just real talk.
I’m not your average woman; I’m an independent woman who pays her bills and takes care of herself. I live freely, doing what makes me happy. With me, you never know what you’ll get, but whatever it is, it will be 100% me. My personality makes me stand out, and while many may try to imitate me, there can only be one me.
I’m truly proud to say that I am authentically me. I live for myself in a world where everyone wants to be someone else. I truly love being me.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans include being on television with my own show, whether it’s a talk show where I interview people or a sitcom that makes people laugh while teaching valuable lessons. I want to be on TV, but I also want to continue helping others grow.
Additionally, I plan to help grow 2HotRadio into an even bigger household name around the world, just like Princess With The Real will be—mark my words. I truly believe in living in the moment while planning for the future. In my future, I envision building an empire, owning my dream house, and living a great life.
Right now, I’m working hard every day to make a way for all my dreams and visions to come true. There are many things I want in life, and I don’t believe in defeat. I’m going to keep pushing hard to make all my dreams a reality.
