Rising Stars: Meet Rachel McGiboney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel McGiboney.

Rachel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
March 2020, I quit my software sales job to take a chance on myself as a photographer. I flew to Europe and was in Paris when Trump closed the US border due to COVID. It wasn’t the time to start your own business. I wound up taking another corporate job only to quit in April 2021 to try again. It was so exciting figuring out how to set up, sell, and scale my own business – with my art and vision as the product. I’ve had some very humbling moments and I continue to learn something new during every shoot. I’m now booked solid this year as a wedding photographer and am looking forward to being a part of all my clients’ special days. 🙂

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. I feel like it never is. I’ve spent so much money on finding leads, advertising myself, and I’ve realized that shooting a wedding is really really hard work. It takes every element of energy: physical, emotional, and mental.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I really enjoy photography solo portraits and engagement shoots. I’m best known for the way I make my clients feel – comfortable, beautiful, and at home. I share so many genuine compliments with my clients. I just love making them feel beautiful.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
