Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Menzoian.
Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2017, I was struggling to make ends meet as a single mom. I decided to start seeing clients one afternoon a week. Some weeks, it was 1 client; some weeks, it was 4. I quickly realized how much I missed seeing clients. When the pandemic hit, I exploded overnight. I was still working full-time at a local mega church while seeing as many clients as I could. My love for seeing clients grew, and I felt a nudging to make Refuel my full-time job. In 2021 I left my job of 21 years and rented out an office space with 4 offices. It was way more space than I needed. I was scared and excited. Since then, Refuel has hired 3 full-time counselors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have learned a lot in this journey.
In the beginning, I was seeing clients, running the business, marketing, admin, social media etc. I was working all the time. As the business grew, I was able to hire someone to clean the offices (instead of me), and hire someone to help with social media/marketing. Finding the right people for your business is essential.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Refuel Counseling is a local private practice where you can work on being the best version of you as you navigate life circumstances. Our goal is to be the “go to” counseling practice in Forsyth County. All of our counselors are Christian and can integrate faith into sessions if a client wants this.
As the owner, I specialize in working with adults navigating a divorce/separation, marriage, co-parenting, and blended families. I am in a unique position where I can combine my education with life experiences. I have been in a difficult marriage that ended in a divorce. I continue to navigate co-parenting and blending a family. I feel so fortunate to be able to use the hardest parts of my life to help others.
