Rising Stars: Meet Randy Michael of East Atlanta village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Michael

Hi Randy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Solid State Radio came about during Covid. I was producing and writing records for a few local and some out of town bands and artists, and in March of 2020 it came to a holt.
I decided to start writing songs for myself again. Songs tailor made for me to sing.

I met John Speaks a few months later , and together, along with Brandon Black and Brian Roberts we recorded these ideas I had .

In December of 2023 we released “You Gotta Wear It, Or Let It Go!”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No more than usual. We’ve had a few line up changes , but the core of SSR are myself, John Speaks and Blake Parris.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think what Solid State Radio’s specialty is Good Hooks, Catchy Riffs, Sweet Rhymes but most of all the truth. When I write songs it’s very much my diary or journal. Words I couldn’t or wouldn’t necessarily be able to voice without the pen.

We’re most proud of the reception we’ve received outside of Atlanta. They showed us so much love in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Denver.

What sets us apart from others ?
That’s a good question.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have to think on that one ……
Maybe our individual musical influences?
John Speaks loves Prince, Cameo and The Jam.

Blake makes these great songs on his own that he should share with everyone.

I have a PhD in Brady Bunch trivia.

Dylan is the hardest working guitarist in the state. He’s fortunate enough to play solo gigs every day and night . He hustles hard.
