Today we’d like to introduce you to Rico Cassadine.
Hi Rico, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Rico Cassadine, a visionary talent from Atlanta, Georgia. My journey in the entertainment industry has been dynamic, spanning over seven and a half years. I started my career in performance as a drag queen, working at venues like 708 Chaparral, Mix Atlanta, and Burkhardt, which was run by Phoenix, a contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 and the current All Stars season. I also served as the show director for four years at Mix Atlanta and Chaparral, where I created and hosted my own show, The Jewelbox Showcase, alongside co-hosts Damoni Hall, Dickerson, and Trinity K Bonet, before Chaparral closed.
My initial foray into acting began with The Mister (2019), marking my first significant role. I’ve expanded my presence in reality television, appearing on series like Chasing Atlanta, The Circle Atlanta, and several other web reality shows.
From 2021 to 2023, I was an active member and cousin of the TTB YouTube platform, participating in various panels and interviews that enriched my experience and connected me with diverse audiences. This year, I continued to pursue my passion through my involvement in Polly Love in Peach City 2 and 3, which has been an exciting chapter in my career. Additionally, I’ve been engaged in music, releasing my first single in 2019, with tracks like “Oh Lawd,” “Problem Child,” and “I Blame Me” resonating with audiences.
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to announce my new show, Myles & Malik, set to debut this fall. I also recently released my first official physical copy of a book titled The Art of Courage: A Summer of Self-Discovery on Amazon. Balancing my work in music, acting, and reality TV, I strive to advocate for social change while pushing the boundaries of creativity across various platforms. My artistic exploration as an actor, musician, and activist has shaped my journey, and I’m excited about what the future holds.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In reflecting on the obstacles and challenges I’ve faced in my career, I realize that many of them have been self-inflicted. Throughout this journey, I have learned valuable lessons about confidence, self-awareness, and adaptability. These qualities have not only helped me navigate my career but have also been essential in my personal growth.
As a member of the LGBT community, I’ve experienced teasing and judgment throughout my life, which greatly impacted my self-esteem. Embracing self-love and learning to appreciate my body were significant hurdles for me. When I entered this industry, I made it my mission to normalize and advocate for respect regarding my appearance.
Ultimately, the obstacles I encountered were pivotal in overcoming my own self-doubt, shaping me into the confident person I am today. This journey of self-acceptance has been incredibly empowering, and I’m committed to using my platform to inspire others to embrace themselves as well.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What makes me, Rico Cassadine, special is my deep belief in the power of being yourself. My journey as an artist isn’t just about performing; it’s about showing everyone that they can follow their passions, no matter what others might think or say. I want to inspire people to embrace who they truly are and to love themselves, especially in a world that often tries to pressure us into fitting a certain mold.
What really sets me apart is my ability to mix different forms of artistry—whether it’s music, acting, drag, or reality TV. I love connecting with people from all walks of life and sharing my message across different platforms. Each performance is more than just a show to me; it’s a chance to celebrate our individuality and show that being vulnerable can be a source of strength. My own experiences have shaped how I see the world, and I’m passionate about using my voice to advocate for change, especially for those in the LGBTQ+ community who might feel overlooked.
At the heart of what I do is a simple but powerful idea: your dreams are worth chasing. I want to empower people to go after what they want in life without fear. It’s important to remember that your worth isn’t about how you look or what others think of you. What matters is the passion you have and the determination to make your dreams a reality. In every song I sing, every role I take on, and every stage I step onto, I carry a message I believe in: dare to dream big, put in the work, and never let anyone else define who you are. We all have the potential to achieve amazing things if we just believe in ourselves and stay true to who we are.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One surprising thing that most people who know me or my work might not be aware of is that I’m actually quite shy and socially awkward. While I enjoy my public persona, I find myself captivated by quirky interests—like binge-watching videos about doll repaints or being fascinated by magic shows. I’m also a huge Marvel nerd! I’ve meticulously watched every Marvel movie in chronological order, both as they were released and according to the timeline of the Marvel universe. Above all, I’m really a homebody who finds joy in cozy nights spent watching movies.
