Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Grayson.
Hi Ryan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For as long as I can remember, I always have been drawing. When I was a kid, I used to draw characters from the shows I liked and everyone took notice and encouraged me to stick with art. As I got a little older, I started to take my craft more seriously. I started coming up with my own stories and drawing them out as comics and I would let all my friends read them, I used to do that in a class all the time. When I turned 18, I decided to make an Instagram focused on my art, I posted everything I drew and gained many followers over time. I currently have a lot of things planned and I wanna take my art to another level.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nah, not at all. As a creative, it’s easy to get discouraged, it’s easy to question yourself especially when you get negative comments on certain things. I used to get a lot of negative and judgmental comments because I draw mostly black people. I guess some people felt some type of way because I didn’t draw white people as much as they wanted me to….
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create art. I’m known for my style and known for drawing black people. I’m proud of how far I’ve come with talent and skills. I believe what sets me apart is my originality and style. People can recognize my art from a mile away and I’m happy about that.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Consistency is key. It’s important to stay at our goals because it pays off.
