Today we’d like to introduce you to Sade Corell.
Hi Sade, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My past, like most people, was a challenge. I lived through abuse and self-destruction, I didn’t know or love myself, nor did I have self-confidence. I never knew that I had the gift of writing and I always doubted my ability to sing. One day, I took a leap, I started freestyling on my way to Target with my two oldest children, and I’ve been writing and recording songs ever since. I’ve also picked up acting, directing, and I’ve written and starred in my own short film.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I struggled with my confidence, funding my craft (it was hard to find the balance between family and my passion). I still struggle with putting myself out there; I’m not good with social media at all, and just being out in front because I’m truly an introvert that loves to sing, rap and make dope music that people like to hear.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a creative being. I write songs, scripts, and poetry. I am a model, a singer and an actress. I’m best known for being a “beautiful songstress” with a silky smooth voice. I’m most proud of coming out of my shell and doing things that I never thought I would ever do! My sound and style is unique, no matter how many times I’ve tried, I’ve never ever fit into any category in any capacity other than my race/ gender.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
If you dreamt it, it can be done. Don’t sit around waiting for others, just do it!
