Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Harrison.
Hi Sasha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Two years ago, my husband and I were presented with an incredible opportunity to purchase a property that would help take our family business to the next level. It was a huge risk, but one I never thought twice about. I think the reason why was because I believed in my husband’s vision so deeply and thought that no matter what, we would do everything we could to make it work. I ended up leaving my career and stepping out into a world I knew nothing about. It was a huge learning curve, we took a lot of missteps, but we’ve finally established a groove that works for us. We invested all of our savings into this business, there wasn’t much left for our home, so I decided to take it on my own. I really didn’t know what I was getting into but I knew if I never tried it wouldn’t get done. I believe in the simple fact that life is just too short and we never know what day is going to be our last. WHY not give it all you’ve got!? I stumbled upon finding my passion through a series of risks. Thinking back on the first one we took I’m so unbelievably grateful that fear didn’t get the best of us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, there are so many moments of self-doubt, moments where you question everything. But when you think of the alternative, there’s just never a question in my mind, I can’t let this go, this is all I think about all I want to do so you put your head down and just work harder.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I can’t seem to quite pin down what I am. most importantly I’m a mom and a wife, I was a nurse and over the past nine months, I’ve become I’m a self-taught Do It Yourself, an advocate for supporting local and small businesses, I help empower women and men alike to step out of their comfort zones and just go for it, I’ve hosted many fundraisers, I’m a Canadian content creator, I have designed and built furniture, and just recently I’ve begun to step into general contracting. I think what sets me apart from others is my willingness to try it all, I’m proud of the fact that I work incredibly hard and I don’t give up, every single day we are given is an absolute gift so I do everything in my power to make them count.
What are your plans for the future?
Right now I’m working on renovating a close friend’s home, they’ve recently gone through an incredible amount of heartache, so stepping into provide them with a beautiful space has been an absolute honour. I have designed the space and am renovating it on my own (right from the demo to the finishing touches). I have had many partnerships with wonderful companies and I am starting to bridge the gap between partnerships and promotions to helping others. One day I’d love to get to a point where I can offer very deserving families a renovation where a lot of the items in the renovation are donated for advertising purposes. I see so often so many companies just gift all of these big-ticket items but a lot of these items go to people who don’t need them, what if I was able to create a world where these items are going to a family who perhaps don’t even have a mattress or a washer and dryer. I want to bridge that gap and I want to do it with all of my heart.
