Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Susnick.
Hi Shelby, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am originally from Bloomington, Indiana, and went to Indiana University studying Non-Profit Management. After graduating, I moved to Miami and Key West, FL working for local and national non-profits. After my contract was completed in South Florida, I moved to Atlanta to be with my fiance and got a job with a local Atlanta non-profit, where I still work today. I have now been in Atlanta for over three years.
In February of 2020, I downloaded TikTok and created a page to post videos of my dog. The 4th video I posted of Russell (my dog) growing up got a lot of attention, including a comment from the Today Show. When the pandemic started, I started putting more effort into this page.
Fast forward to now, I now have partnerships with dog food brands and am able to monetize my content.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One challenge I had was my dog battling with parvo when he was a puppy. Parvo is a virus where dogs typically die of dehydration. The vet gave him a 50% chance of survival. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a TikTok and Instagram influencer under the username @BoopleTheSnoot. We are known for posting funny, relatable dog content. I am the proudest of making a side hustle that includes doing what I enjoy doing – hanging out with my dog and making people laugh.
What sets us apart is how relatable and funny our content is. We post videos that show the real side of owning a dog.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I enjoy taking risks. Posting videos and acting was originally outside of my comfort zone. Especially exposing myself to our over 260K followers now. Each post is a risk.
