Today we’d like to introduce you to Shenelle Simone and April B.

Shenelle Simone April B

Hi Shenelle and April, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Shenelle Simone and April B are media host, radio personalities, content creators and influencers in Atlanta, GA by way of Brooklyn, NY.

Shenelle Simone – I started my media journey in 2015 after receiving my bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Albany State University. In 2017, I gave up on media because it wasn’t a lot of opportunities being presented for me at the time, so I got my Master’s degree in finance, and I started working in corporate America. Not knowing my true purpose, my friends and family say that I am always the life of the party and how I’m always in the mix and encouraged me to give media another chance. When the pandemic came in 2020, I created Bauce Media Enterprise, LLC, and joined Media Girls Network, and the rest was history from there. Since then, I worked with major brands such as Def Jam, Zeus Network, Atlanta Falcons as a media personality.

April B –  My media journey started in high school, lol. I was a fan of all the pop culture hit shows like 106&Park, TRL, and many more. When I was in high school, I was like a student TMZ where I would get all the information of all the stuff that was happening in the school, and then I would report on it for all the teachers that didn’t want to be left out. One of my administrators even called me Wendy Williams for always having the latest gossip news. Fast forward to a couple of years later, I had honestly given up on my dream of becoming a media personality because my life now had not really aligned with it. In 2021 I decided to stop watching on the sidelines as others went after their dreams and segway into my own. I started a YouTube for lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and more. Then one day, I saw a post on Instagram that a prominent media company, Media Girls Network, was looking for writers to join their team. I literally left work and went to the interview process and was added to the team, and the rest is history. I was able to write for and work with Brands such as The Jasmine Brand, Music Xclusives, Def Jam, and more.

Shenelle Simone & April B – We both were in the same media organization, Media Girls Network, working on media careers. We worked on some events together and realized that we had a lot in common with one another. We both were from Brooklyn, both names are “April”, born in April but nothing to make us close how we are today, LOL. In August of 2022, I had a vision for me (Shenelle Simone) to want more in my media career. I wanted to start a podcast about being from the north and currently living in the south. If I’m not mistaken, it’s either I called April or April called me to just ask a question, but I ended up telling her out of the blue, “I want to work on a project, and I think I want you to join me”. Without hesitation, April just said, “Ok, just let me know” and the rest was history! This is how Flew Here Grew Here was created.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Shenelle & April B- Nothing is ever smooth, lol. But having each other makes the journey a little more bearable and enjoyable. Having the vision is easy, but executing the vision for success is an everyday uphill battle that you fight for if you want it as bad as we do. Some struggles we have experienced is building a brand from the ground up that people can buy into, finding financial resources to help fuel the dream because our business is not cheap, and just simply keeping the faith to keep going when we might want to give up. We are prepared for what comes with this because we know this is our purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Shenelle Simone and April B – We couldn’t have done this ourselves! So many people to give credit too! One thing we always say is that we couldn’t have been your favorite media girls if it wasn’t for Jelisa Raquel, CEO/Founder of Media Girls Network, Inc. and celebrity publicist. Joining MGN have truly shaped us in the women we are today! Media Girls Network is a fully engaged community tailored to women In Media, Entertainment, Beauty, Fashion, and More.

Shenelle Simone – My friends/family played a huge role in me stepping back out on faith and giving media another chance. I always knew I was created to serve my community and spread joy on this earth. My friends helped me discover my purpose in life, and I’m forever grateful! Lastly, my lord and savior, God! All of this is his work. None of this would be without him

April B – First and foremost, I want to thank God because without him, literally none of this would be possible. I also want to thank my family for always supporting and loving me through this. I also want to thank my friends because they literally saw this for me and pushed me to keep going. Please add this in: I want to thank all of the people that ever gave me an opportunity from Media Girls Network, DLE Radio, 94.7 The Link, and any other brand. Lastly, anybody that has believed in me, my talent, and anything else truly deserves the credit.
