Today we’d like to introduce you to Sikeithia Morris.
Sikeithia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Sikeithia aka KEKE. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I am the owner of a plus-size boutique located in the college area of Atlanta near Westend mall. Yher clothing has been my brand for the past three years, where I cater to sizes xl-5x in plus size clothing, swimwear, and all women needs. My brand name was giving to me by a special person in my life that’s no longer here. The story behind yher clothing is funny but real. My son father (5lugga) uses to always say women would ask why her? Why do you date her? Being that I am a plus size or thick women it stood out to me why her? Why not me??? he was later killed June 9th, 2019, while I was five months pregnant with his only son. Being in a deep depression not understanding what life has taken me threw at the time, I had to come out of the mind state of life is just over for me. I felt so lost. Fast forward, I had my son in oct and started going over my notes for a plus-size boutique which we had discussed when my son’s father was alive. I came up with YHER PLUS SIZE CLOTHING. Now being in a better mental space after giving birth, I begin to search for like-minded vendors that was plus size friendly. I begin to order samples of clothing from different vendors contacting people thru what’s app sending photo ideas of what I want until I found the perfect way to market my business. Here I am two years later, and my business is getting beyond me. I have had a billboard downtown near the corner of Peachtree St which has been my biggest accomplishment thus far! I have serviced a lot of beautiful women and build bonds with them all due to my customer service and authenticity in assisting these ladies with the best fits that suits their body type. This has definitely been an experience for me and I love it. To see the women in clothing from me and to have much confidence while wearing it is just the best feeling ever. I am working on a big project for Yher clothing and we will be coming to a mall near you, a storefront near you, a mobile boutique near you, also my BOYS have a clothing line that’s doing well Cortez and Cardal (LOYALTYOVAMONEY) apparel and dog clothing coming this summer. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is smooth when you’re just starting a business. I will say it has been a challenging being that it’s very hard to come across good quality plus size clothing that actually fits the body figure because we all are made different. The challenges have been real for me because I’ve ordered things from multiple vendors that sometimes-had bad quality, having to deal with some clothing not fitting like I thought. Also having to make sure u not just wasting your money it’s something like a gamble that I have been willing to risks so that I have the best quality plus size clothes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a female jack of all trades lol, I hustle my business like no other. All my life, since 8th grade I have always worked jobs. Being a teenager growing up, I would always have a job to buy the things I wanted and to also help around the house if I could. My mom installed in me as a young girl about being independent and being able to take care of yourself first. She’s always went above and beyond for us, and I just want to make her proud. I’m not perfect but I have come a very long way. I specialize in being a breath of fresh air for others. I’ve always tried new things and excelled each obstacle to the best of my ability. I am a mother of two boys who watches me daily work and hustle for them. My best friend was a fashion goddess; he installed in me on how to dress and match clothing to your actual body type (RIP MALONE ) that’s where my fashion driven ideas come from. I am most proud of the way my actions and thinking has changed. I have grown so much being that I have soooo many angels watching over me is what keeps me going. I’m over blessed and forever grateful. What sets me apart from others is I’m not afraid to take the risk given. I have always marched to the beat of my own drum, I’m a leader at heart. The bigger the risk the bigger the reward, right? I’m here to work and succeed as much as I can to get to where I actually want to be and I won’t stop here!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be the love of the projects I grew up in. I was raised in Herndon homes Apts right off northside dr. I have learned so much from the women and men in my neighborhood and how they all stuck together to raise us and just the love of the hood period I miss those days. Growing up with the wisdom of my grandmother the late miss Jackie Morris, being able to hang outside be a kid and live life worry-free cause you surrounded by love and people that care, now all the projects are torn down so we may never get to experience that saying of it takes a village to raise a child. I’m glad I got to have that as a memory that I can share with my boys.
