Rising Stars: Meet Sincerely Dad of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sincerely Dad.

Hi Sincerely, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Raised in Attleboro Massachusetts. A small town outside of Boston. I grew up rapping and singing with my friends in the projects. We would go door-to-door performing for everyone in the neighborhood. That eventually grew into a rap group called “Squad Deep”. But it was short lived when my parents decided to move to Atlanta in 2005. I finished my high school years at Lovejoy High. I was the new guy that was always rapping at the lunch table and making his own custom sneakers & clothes. After high school, music was my main focus. My first break was making a theme song for “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show”. Then performing as a mascot on 106 & Park with MeMpHiTz. To writing songs for B. Símone. To eventually being managed by Ferrari Simmons & Fly Guy DC. In 2020 i decided to rebrand and change my stage name from “Dodad” to “Sincerely Dad”. Part of my rebrand included me only wearing shoes that i made but that immediately turned into a full business. From that I’ve been blessed to be able to make shoes for the likes of Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Akeem Ali, Rreal Tacos, Beltline Kevin & many more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has its smooth days & it’s not so smooth days for sure. I’ve faced many struggles. Losing my manager/close Kwame aka Sneaker Que in 2017 was & still is one of the hardest struggles i face today. I’ve also struggled with self doubt. Being an artist is 50% mental & sometimes the negative thoughts consume you. I’ve become more conscious of my unconscious thoughts but i still have my days. Another aspect i struggle with is releasing music. There will never be a perfect time and that’s something i fully understand now.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am Sincerely Dad & i do it all.

I was raised by my father and i am a full time father as well. My name isn’t Sincerely Dad for nothing. I truly stand on fatherhood. My brand is called “Father Figure”. That’s my umbrella for everything.

I’m mainly known for my music. I’ve been rapping since i was a kid & I’ve worked with some of the best in the industry.

I also design custom sneakers. I teach 1 on 1 & group classes to all ages. I specialize in Air Force 1s but i can design any shoe.

I am an ambassador with 2 great brands!!
1. Scotch Porter – A men’s care line. Beard products, body washes, face masks & all the essentials.
2. Goorin Bro. – Clothing brand but they’re mainly know for their hats.

I own a renovation company as well. Household Renovations Company. Specializing in remodeling, flooring, painting, electrical, HVAC & plumbing.

I’m most proud of my “Father Figure Field Day” event i host on Father’s Day. A day of celebrating the real ones. Most single dads don’t have a village. So i want to help build one. We give out free food, i raffle off free shoes, great games, etc.

What sets me apart is my work ethic. I’m blessed enough to be multi talented so I’m always working on something. James Clear said “Keep your identity small. The harder we cling to an identity, the harder it is for us to grow beyond it”. I have one life and I’m gonna water every seed I’m able to sow.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I take risks everyday. Believing in yourself is a risk on its own. One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was changing my stage name. I’d done so much work building a reputation with my previous name. So to just up and switch it felt like i was starting from scratch. But it was quite the opposite. The name change helped me realize my purpose.

Everyone know “no risk, no reward”. But i was raised “survival depends on the risks you avoid”. To me that means you survive by risking growth, not extinction.
