Rising Stars: Meet Steppin’ Out Performing Arts of Newnan, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steppin’ Out Performing Arts.

Hi Steppin’ Out Performing Arts, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Steppin’ Out Performing Arts was originally founded by Cassie Jackson in Arizona in 2007. She then relocated to GA in 2017 and started a sister studio here in Newnan. Classes originally met at the recreation center in Newnan and took off from there. The classes moved to her own one room studio and after three years of growing, Lindsey Archer joined the studio as co-owner. We were then able to open a three room studio in downtown Newnan. Due to our growth we are moving again into a Historical building in downtown Newnan that will triple our current space. We are looking forward to staying in the downtown area and continuing to be a part of the thriving downtown scene and contribute to a growing community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely going through the pandemic was a challenge. We were able to pivot to virtual classes for a bit and then we were fortunate enough that we were able to hold summer camps in person. We were so fortunate to live in GA!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our studio originally only offered dance classes and over the years we have started to offer a variety of other performing arts and visual arts options such as group music classes, private voice, piano and guitar, art classes in many different genres including painting, textile arts, drawing and more. We also started producing full scale musicals during the year in addition to our holiday and spring recitals. We also offer audition based performing groups that perform in the community and around the US for festivals, parades and other fun events.

We are a performance based studio and we are constantly growing and adding new classes and styles every year for our community. We love providing a space for students to learn with joy, creativity, and fun while encouraging them to push themselves. We also have a fantastic team of teachers and staff and are so fortunate to have them teaching and working with us.

Our mission is to train and nurture our students, build confidence, teach life skills, and develop lasting relationships in a safe and loving environment. We aim to inspire our students to work hard, care for their art and body, love the arts, and share their passion with others. We want them to connect and build relationships with our studio family and create friendships that will last a lifetime. We aim to shine and allow our students to find their spark and potential. We want to be a light within our community and to the people in it!

What does success mean to you?
We believe success for us is seeing these amazing students thrive in and out of the dance room! We have one of the best jobs in the world; we get to share the arts with the young people of tomorrow. Whether it’s our youngest ballerina trying class for the first time, or our veteran performers stepping into the spotlight for the 15th time, we get to inspire and train these children with skills they will use for a lifetime.
