Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Nefzger.
Hi Susan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After the publication of my books, I wanted to work with authors and continue to work on publishing projects. During the pandemic, the world became more virtual, so most of my professional and personal work as a writer was completely remote. Today, I wear a few different hats as a global PR and communications consultant, executive coach, and writer. I am publishing my third book in The Practical Guide series of inspirational books, “A Practical Guide to Living Fearlessly.” This book was finalized during the illness and passing of my Mother, adding a poignancy and universal aspect to the message which I feel all people can relate to in their daily lives. It is a guide to becoming aware of where your fears originate, why and how we can manage them in a practical way in order to live fully and joyfully. Because we can do so and once we do understand our triggers, life is easier to navigate.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Living life is never a smooth road, as the variables are many, it’s how we navigate the road that determines its smoothness. I learned early on that a “can do” attitude was the best way to navigate life. I never thought there was anything I couldn’t handle. Having now lived awhile, I know that is certainly true. I have as many have, experienced deep loss, as well as having had a dramatic spiritual awakening which drives drastic life changes. But the ability to remain present through conscious living, has allowed me to take life one day at a time. We all have a purpose and we must remain trusting that we all are here to strive and succeed as joyous human beings, not the other way around.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In my coaching and writing, I assist others in becoming self aware in order to discover their purpose. I do this through retreats, one on one work, and online classes. Sharing how to live consciously allows one to observe the events of the day or your life with a calm attitude as an observer. If we understand we are all on a journey of our own making, it is easier to allow the path to unfold and understand that you can depend on yourself. No matter what, this is a resilience born of faith. I like to say faith is our resilience. Resilience comes from our faith in ourselves. This inner knowing can set you apart as a role model for others.
The theme of my life is that I have continuously been surrounded by some of the most interesting, educated, creative, wonderful people, who have all helped me excel with each life experience. By recognizing opportunity as it was presented and taking risks, I kept moving forward and building relationships along the way. Overcoming challenges takes resilience, smarts and faith. If you don’t learn from situations you can’t overcome challenges, large or small. People view me as unique, simply because I confident in my ability to overcome any challenge. My experience and willingness to see the trends whether in my professional life as a PR pro, or in my personal life, or in my writing, to try new things has set me apart. I continue to evolve in both my careers while staying true to myself. For when we honor ourselves we shine for others to see what they can also become or achieve!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
As the cliche goes — it’s all about the journey, there is no destination. My family, and many friends and colleagues all deserve credit– because they are all on the team. A special group of women writers in England, all of whom I met during the conscious writing retreat were instrumental in my evolution as a writer, and my gratitude to them is forevermore. You can read about that in my books. So, evolution conspires with us whether we want to admit it or not, because eventually we do evolve and move forward, the timing is up to us. I have been blessed beyond measure with the opportunities presented to me, and the magic is realizing the opportunity when it does occur. Then and only then can one take advantage of it.
