Rising Stars: Meet Suzie Merheb of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzie Merheb.

Hi Suzie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is anything but traditional — I started as a music journalist and media creator in Sydney, Australia, filming raw, unfiltered interviews with underground artists and major names. I’ve always been obsessed with the behind-the-scenes chaos of music and culture, so I built a platform that captured that energy.

Over time, I evolved into more than just a storyteller — I became the story. As the first-ever Punk Rock Barbie with Lebanese roots, I fused my love for early 2000s punk, modern pop-metal, and hip-hop into a genre I call Bubblegum Punk. My first-ever punk rock cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Bombs Away” — which even got love from her original producer.

I’ve toured, DJed everywhere from clubs to immersive events, and recently made the leap to ATL to take my career global. From shooting content with artists like Slim Jxmmi and Saweetie, to prepping my next wave of releases, I’m building a universe where music, fashion, and chaos collide.

It hasn’t been easy — there’s been pushback, heartbreak, and a lot of late nights editing footage and writing bars. But I’m relentless, and I’ve turned every “no” into a storyline.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road—and I think that’s what makes the journey so real. One of my biggest struggles has been finding the right people to build a solid team—people who truly understand my vision, share the same level of passion, and are just as committed to the long-term grind. It’s hard finding that kind of loyalty and work ethic in an industry that moves fast and can be very transactional.

Financial challenges have also played a big role. As an independent artist, journalist, and DJ, funding your own projects—from music videos and tour content to interviews and travel—can be overwhelming. But I’ve learned how to hustle smart, get creative with my resources, and stay focused on my purpose even when things get tough.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a multi-hyphenate creative—DJ, music journalist, artist, and content producer originally from Sydney, now working between Australia and the U.S. I specialize in capturing raw, interactive interviews with major artists, spinning high-energy DJ sets, and producing music that fuses punk rock with pop metal and DnB—a genre I’ve coined Bubblegum Punk.

I’m known for my vibrant personality, bold fashion, and fearless interviewing style. I’ve skydived with Slim Jxmmi, shared heartfelt moments with Saweetie, and broken ground as the first-ever Punk Rock Barbie from Australia. I bring my full self to every project I do, whether I’m behind the decks, behind the camera, or in front of it.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come on my own terms. I’ve built my platform from the ground up, funded my own projects, and carved out a lane where punk meets pop, Barbie meets Bratz, and journalism meets performance.

What sets me apart is my authenticity and my vision. I don’t wait for opportunities—I create them. I mix subcultures unapologetically and use my platform to uplift artists who don’t always get mainstream visibility. Everything I do has heart, chaos, and color—just like me.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m such an open book, but something people might not expect is that I’m actually a certified scuba diver! It’s funny because I’m always in hyper-creative, high-energy environments—whether I’m DJing, interviewing artists, or performing—but when I’m underwater, everything is still and silent. It’s a totally different world that grounds me and reminds me to breathe, literally and spiritually. It’s the opposite of the chaos I usually thrive in, and I love that contrast. It reminds me that even people who seem loud and wild need peace too.
