Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Rice
Hi Tabitha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hey voyage peeps! My name is Tabitha and I’m 32 years old and a mother of three beautiful children. I have been working in the healthcare industry for ten years now and was feeling lost, alone, and the spark that drew me into helping others in the medical field was being smothered by big CEO’s dictating how you interact with patients, placing rules and steps for healthcare providers to follow; what’s the best financial decision not what’s the best medicinal way! I wanted to find something else that made me excited to go to work, that challenged me, allowed me to connect with a patient/client on another level to help them. But I couldn’t decide; I was getting my lashes done one day and my lash tech was discussing how much money she makes in the industry and the connections she has made over the years and the way she has designed her brand gave me inspiration and I wanted to learn. How hard could lashing be? Let me tell you this it’s hard. Lol! But with patience and determination I have been lashing for five years now and I love every minute of it. I have connected with so many women in different walks of life, attended client’s weddings, graduations, business ribbon cutting events, and even funerals. These women are my saving grace and they have no clue. Those 2-2.5 hour sessions of us talking and vibing are so therapeutic for myself and for them. As a nurse, you want to help others naturally and my lash sessions are my way of helping my clients. We talk medicine, parenting advice, medical advice, and more. I am so happy that I made a decision to take a leap of faith and focus more on lashing and building a brand for myself. I currently lash in Albany, GA and Marietta, GA. I am now five years into the game and still learning new techniques, adding more certifications to my belt and who knows where I’ll be in another five years! My own lash chains… Maybe
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No definitely not. I obtained my degrees in nursing and Healthcare administration and just knew the healthcare field was for me and that I would climb the CEO ladder one day. But being in the field and seeing the ugly side of the healthcare industry it really was an eye opener for me and I knew I wanted more and deserved more. I took a leap of faith and left the healthcare industry and have been solely focusing on lash extensions and delivering the best customer service to my clients and giving them the ultimate experience of luxury, high quality materials and my absolute best each and every time
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lashing is an art that no one really understands the depth of. Lash artists have to be open to training and training properly, continuing your training, and doing what’s best for your client’s natural lashes. You have to examine the health of your client’s lashes determine the perfect weight per single lash, pick the perfect curl pattern for the style/set you’re doing for your client. You have to educate your clients on proper cleaning of their extensions and more. It’s a very thorough process and you wouldn’t know all lash techs/artists go through this without being a lash artist. I love it!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My fiancé has been my biggest supporter. Between the late-night studio set ups, assisting me with clients, making sure my adds are posted on social media and overall being there emotionally for me. I have a network of fellow melanin lash queens that are there for me and I truly don’t know where I would be without their guidance, support, and love
