Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Nichole Tolliver. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Tania Nichole – multi-hyphenate R& B singer, songwriter, actress, model, recording artist, and a South Carolina native. Tania began singing at age three, belting out her renditions of songs by Whitney Houston and other popular entertainers. You could say Tania’s talent is God-given as neither of her parents possessed any musical talents. At an early age, Tania developed a strong passion for singing. However, it wasn’t until Tania’s first solo with her kindergarten chorus that she discovered her true passion for performing on a stage in all forms. Thankfully, her mother used all the money she had to invest in any passion she had from choir, dance, cheerleading, and pageants. All of those experiences led Tania to her first recording contract with Carolina South Music. She completed a demo, while still attending high school. It was during this time she got to open for Jeffery Osborne best known for the song “On the Wings of Love,” and Kem known for the song “I Can’t Stop Loving You.
Upon graduating from high school in 2007, Tania won the Miss Black Spartanburg Scholarship Pageant in 2008. This title not only allowed her to share her talent with the community but to serve her community and share life experiences with the youth. Tania completed a B.S degree in Music Performance at Lander University, where she excelled in the music department, gaining classical training in 3 different languages. During this time, she also acted in the 3-night musical production “Cinderella” as a step-sister and lead singer on the Lander Jazz Ensemble tour. Following college, she had dreams of reaching a higher level in her career, so she quit her job and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, in hopes of building a better life for her family back home.
Unexpectedly, in 2015, Tania experienced the loss of her younger brother. This was the lowest point of her life. She and her brother dreamt of taking the music scene together following his high school graduation. Music was to going be their way out, and it all seemed pointless to her for a while without him. After a year of grieving, it was music, acting, and heavy therapy that actually brought her out of her depression. Tania starred in Greenville’s “Desperate Measures” alongside Grammy-nominated gospel singer Le’Andria Johnson in 2017. That same year she was selected as an opening act for billboard charting, KeKe Wyatt performing her own music. That overwhelming feeling from that opportunity led her to a decision to quit her job and relocated back to Atlanta again to pursue, music and so much more. Tania’s hard work paid off and she released her first EP “Love Addict” in 2018.
For the last couple of years, she has been performing with corporate bands allowing her to open for Frankly Beverley. Currently, she is a member of the award-winning band “The After Party Experience“ which has placed her on stages to perform for up to 50,000 people. Her most recent single “Good Good” was released on November 4th, 2022. It is available on all platforms. She continues her journey to stardom as an independent artist which a guardian angel guiding her every step of the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has not been a smooth road by far. The biggest struggle was grieving the loss of my only sibling after he drowned in Lake Keowee in 2015. The other constant struggle I face is being trapped in the corporate work life to fund my both living expenses and a music career. As an independent artist, it gets really tough.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
First and foremost I am an artist. I am also a wedding band singer by the weekend. I travel to different states every weekend, getting paid to have fun performing on a stage.
I am most proud of my latest single, “Good Good” not only was I a co-writer of the song; but was the creative director of the visual behind this fiery track. Being able to have full control over my creative process is a lot of work but yet so fulfilling.
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I’m multi-talented. I don’t strive to be a great singer, I strive to be a great entertainer. I also firmly believe that my own life experiences and struggles set me apart. I am able to tap into an emotional place that will earn a solid place in the entertainment field.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
This is a hard question to answer. Previously I would have said I’ve bad luck due to the many struggles I endured. However, losing my brother taught me that your tongue is the strongest muscle on your bodies. Now, I’m learning to manifest and speak the life I want and with hard work, consistency, and God… good luck is around every corner.
