Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayna Rigaud.
Hi Tayna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
CoreVitals was truly built on both friendship and vision. My partner, Sakeena Anderson, NP-C, and I met back in 2012 while working together in PACU. From the very beginning, we worked extremely well as a team. We shared the same work ethic, the same passion for patient care, and the same desire to do more for our community.
Over the years, we would often talk about opening a business together. We didn’t know exactly what it would be at the time — we just knew we wanted to create something of our own. Something that combined our clinical skills, our passion for wellness, and our commitment to providing quality, compassionate care.
In May, an opportunity presented itself to open a medical wellness clinic. It felt aligned with everything we had talked about for years. We took a leap of faith, trusted our experience and our vision, and began building what is now CoreVitals.
By November, we officially opened our doors. What started as conversations between coworkers in 2012 became a fully operating medical clinic focused on helping our community feel confident, healthy, and empowered. CoreVitals is more than a business to us — it’s the fulfillment of a long-held dream rooted in partnership, purpose, and passion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road – but every challenge has shaped us into stronger business owners.
Transitioning from being healthcare providers to becoming business owners was one of the biggest adjustments. We’re very comfortable in patient care, but learning the business side – licensing, compliance, credentialing, marketing, budgeting, and operations – required a completely different skill set. There were moments where we had to learn quickly and make tough decisions in real time.
Another challenge was timing. When the opportunity presented itself in May, everything moved fast. We had a limited window to secure the space, complete build-out, order supplies, establish protocols, and ensure we were fully compliant before opening in November. Balancing that while still working and maintaining our personal responsibilities required discipline and sacrifice.
Like many new businesses, we also faced the normal startup challenges – funding, community awareness, and building trust as a new brand. Even though we have years of clinical experience, we still had to introduce CoreVitals to the community and show people what makes us different.
But through every obstacle, our partnership has been our greatest strength. Because we’ve worked together since 2012, we understand each other’s strengths and can lean on one another. The road hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been purposeful – and every challenge has reinforced why we started CoreVitals in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At CoreVitals, our work is grounded in strong clinical leadership and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
I began my career as a Registered Nurse and transitioned into leadership and management, overseeing virtual medicine operations, regulatory compliance, and ambulatory clinic management. My expertise lies in building efficient systems, ensuring regulatory standards are met, and creating a seamless, professional patient experience from intake to follow-up.
Sakeena started her career as an RN and advanced to become a Nurse Practitioner specializing in internal medicine, with a strong focus on preoperative clearance and comprehensive patient management. Her background allows her to assess patients thoroughly, manage chronic conditions, and ensure every treatment plan is medically appropriate and outcome-driven.
At CoreVitals, we provide a full spectrum of medical wellness services, including medical weight loss programs, aesthetic services such as Botox, IV hydration therapy, hormone replacement therapy, sexual health services, and DOT examinations. Every service we offer is backed by clinical expertise and careful evaluation to ensure safety and effectiveness.
What we are most proud of is that our passion for positive patient outcomes and delivering high-quality care is what fueled the vision for CoreVitals. This clinic wasn’t created just to offer trending services – it was created to elevate the standard of care in medical wellness.
What truly sets us apart is that we are nurse-led. We are highly skilled, experienced clinicians who approach care holistically. We don’t just focus on the service being provided – we focus on the whole patient: their medical history, lifestyle, goals, and long-term health. Our patients receive care that is thorough, compliant, compassionate, and rooted in real clinical experience.
CoreVitals is where medical expertise meets wellness – and that combination is what makes us different.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the biggest things we’ve learned is that mentorship and networking require intention. You can’t wait for opportunities to find you – you have to actively seek them.
For us, mentorship started with being open to guidance from experienced leaders around us. Our medical director has been an important source of clinical and operational insight, helping us navigate compliance, patient safety, and best practices. Having someone who understands both medicine and business has been invaluable. My advice is to find a mentor who not only has experience, but who genuinely wants to see you succeed and is willing to give honest, constructive feedback.
When it comes to networking, community-sponsored events have been incredibly impactful for us. These events give us the opportunity to engage directly with the community, talk about the services we offer, and educate people on how our services positively impact their wellness journey. It allows us to build trust face-to-face and show that we are more than just a clinic – we are partners in our patients’ overall health.
What has worked well for us is being authentic, approachable, and consistent. We don’t just show up to promote – we show up to educate, listen, and connect. Building relationships within the community has strengthened our brand and reinforced our mission.
For anyone looking to grow professionally, I would say: seek mentorship with humility and network with purpose. The right relationships can open doors, provide guidance, and help you build something meaningful.
