Rising Stars: Meet Tfemi of Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tfemi

Tfemi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Nigeria, where music was never part of the plan—I was all about football (soccer). While in college, I was focused on making the team, but when I failed my French class, I became ineligible to play. Some of my closest friends were on the team, and we were always joking around and trolling each other. Once I couldn’t play anymore, they had plenty of material to use against me, so I decided to fire back by making a diss track. That was my first real experience with creating music. I took it more serious when the late xxxtentacion reposted my song.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey to where I am now hasn’t been easy. I’ve dealt with fake friends, unreliable business partners, and countless time wasters. My closest friend, who’s also an artist, went through many of these challenges with me. Music is one of the toughest industries because there’s no clear path to success, and too many people only stick around if they can gain something from you.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve created a lot of memorable milestones in my career, from multiple sold-out shows in New Jersey to collaborating with artists like Coi Leray, Anti Da Menace, and Hunxho. One of the biggest highlights for me was when Hunxho took me on tour with Lil Baby, Rylo Rodriguez, and GloRilla. It opened my eyes to a whole new level of the industry and made me realize that everything I’m aiming for in my career is within reach.

What’s next?
My future plans are to have even more and bigger sold-out shows, create hits that resonate globally, help my family get out of debt, and put my label, 79 Entertainment, on the map. I believe we’ve got the most talent—it’s just a matter of time before the world recognizes it.
