Rising Stars: Meet Tiffany Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Wilson.

Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I always had a love for  the arts.I grew up in a home with creativity and passion.Music was a big part of my upbringing, from listening to gospel classics, to hearing all the motown hits played on our record player. To my mom singing my father and my youngest sister.. I would try to sing sometimes but my eyes and ears were always set on managing and producing. I was always told.. I had an eye and ear for talent.I loved music and later on fell in love with television as well. I watched all of the great cimography from the “Wiz””Annie” “Crooklyn” “Lady Sing the blues” and Mahogany are a few of my favorites. I always waited to watch the credits on tv and movies to find out who every actor, producer, Casting person and who the director was. I always felt that my love for Entertainment started as young as a toddler. I visited the Motown museum with my Dad at the age of 1 and ended up on the Front page of the “Detroit FreePress” with Berry Gordy Sister-in-law. As a child I would write poems and stories and share them with my sisters. My sister and I also, use to read newspaper articles and come back and report them.I always came in first place. In middle school I would write B2K fanfiction stories. In high school, I took radio production and TV production. I shadow a family friend at radio station and I also, did an internship with an artist development company called Your Music Biz where I was the Executive Assistant to the CEO.I had hopes of being a News Anchor, but once I got to college I studied more of the business side of Entertainment.I was a huge Oprah fan and wanted to follow in her footsteps.I attended Columbia College in Chicago and later on received my bachelor’s in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. I took a leap of Faith left Michigan and moved to Atlanta to pursue my career in TV. Once I got to Atlanta, a lot of work I took was volunteering and low-budget production work. I also wrote television reviews on tv shows and started my own youtube channel called “Dish it” with my friend Austin. We were ahead of our time but never got to where we needed to be because life happens.. I applied for my first internship and  had the choice to intern at Universal as an Artist Rep on the music side of things or  intern as a digital media intern for “CMT” (Country Music TV). Ironically, I chose “CMT”. Which was the start of me choosing television over music.Once I completed my internship in Nashville.I moved back to Atlanta and received my first production job as a production assistant for America’s Got Talent. It was a dream come true to be able to work in music and tv at the same time. This was also one of the first times I got to critique someone else’s talent and work under one of the best producers on the show. From there I worked on the Voice, Shark Tank, Family Feud, The Wall and a variety of  shows.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working in this industry has not been easy. One of my biggest struggles to start out with was being able to go to school.I didn’t get any financial aid at first. I got accepted to Columbia College and had to pay out of pocket. I was blessed to have a friend that went to the same school as me that let me stay in her dorm and share other amenities with me.. I was also blessed to have an awesome mentor who lived in Chicago and let me stay with her with the help of my mom. I didn’t finish my schooling at Columbia because I couldn’t afford to go back.I took a summer job to be able to go back but that was a major failure. I had to move back to Michigan and ended up pregnant with my blessing in disguise, my daughter which allowed me to be able to finish school and receive my Bachelor’s in Entertainment Business. Once I finished school I got married and had my son. He was 2 months old when I graduated. This was one of my biggest struggles along the way. Balancing being a mom and trying to pursue my dreams. This held me back for a minute. I was looking around at all my peers passing me by in my field. Once my kids were old enough to go to school, I could jump into working in my field. My husband moved our family back to Michigan. It was a real stumbling block for me.Michigan doesn’t have film incentives. So,there wasn’t much work for me.I was able to take whatever freelance production job that came to town but that wasn’t enough for me. So,I left and worked in LA for four months. I had to leave my family behind even though it was a struggle it was a sacrifice I had to take. While I was in LA, I found my love for Casting. I eventually moved back to Atlanta and it’s been up from there ever since. I worked my way up in the court world industry. I started out as a booking production Assistant. My boss saw greatness in me and helped lead and guide me into becoming a great booker. Now, I am a booking producer and I’m on my 3rd season, and I absolutely love what I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a booking producer for a Nationally SYNDICATED COURT SHOW and also worked as a Casting Associate Producer on the new prime-time court show. It’s my job to find real couples to come on our TV shows and share their stories.I find great stories that people care about and can relate to. I spend time getting to know the people and help develop their stories.I Love finding talent and big personalities.I love watching the stories unfold and the effect being on the show has on people. I’ve had a case where an aspiring author was able to have a platform to have others purchase her children’s book on Amazon and recently one of the guests I cast shared his story with millions and was offered a job with the show. It feels good to be able to be a part of giving someone a platform to operate and share their gifts with the world. In 2020, I received my first Emmy Nomination for outstanding Court Show TV along with my other colleagues. It was a phenomenal feeling to be Nominated. Going into this it was just a passion of mind. I never thought an award nomination would come with the job. I was always taught a job is where you go to collect a paycheck. A career is something you love waking up and doing every day. I also am a momager to my kids. Not only do I book others to be on tv for a living. I also seek out opportunities for my children. I also manage three youtube accounts. One for my kids which is doing really well is the Airi and Aiden Show and a sports and entertainment channel called Bold Predictions and Privately Public. I use these channels to express my other passions.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my fond memories growing up is attending youth service at my church. It was there I developed a lot of my qualities I use in my career. From serving on youth hospitality. Where I had to greet strangers and show compassion and love towards others..From working in the audio department where I set up mikes and controlled the sound. Going out and doing outreach from handing out flyers to people in the community and witnessing to people. Making friends and being able to have a release from home.I had leadership and people there pushed me towards greatness. It is where my Faith comes from. Every challenge and obstacle I ever had was conquered by my faith. The Bible says “Faith without works is dead.”James 2:26. In everything I do in life “I walk by faith and not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7. I am a firm believer that if you put your trust in God he will direct your path.
