Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Kelly.
Hi Tracy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been in the education field. My mom ran a very successful in-home daycare for over 26 years, I majored in Early Childhood Education and have had many jobs in this field. Working with kids has always been my passion. In 2010, my oldest son was set to begin Pre-Kindergarten. This led to an extensive search for just the right school. After visiting, many schools and centers, my mind (and heart) was not at ease with leaving him at any of them. I decided to pray and consider what to do next. I thought that meant finding another Pre-K program, but as it turns out, I would be introduced to my life’s purpose.
Soon after, I kept running into articles, videos, and blogs about homeschooling. I began to do some in-depth research and decided that homeschooling might work for us. I had a conversation with my husband and decided that if things didn’t work out that we could always send him to school. Well, I am now a 13-year homeschooling mom of three and have started my own homeschool/micro-school open to other families. After the pandemic, I realized that there were many families that were forced to “homeschool ” their kids. Many of them knew that I had a blog and that my social media is dedicated to normalizing home education, so I began getting DMs and messages for my help. Soaring Eagles Learning Center, LLC. was born and I feel so blessed to bring everything that I love about homeschooling to other families. I am so thankful that my husband, Dwayne Kelly trusted me with our children’s education and has given me the support to pursue this new endeavor!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Parenting is challenging, but when you become both your child’s teacher and parent, of course, you will run into challenges. You have to figure out how to balance everything. I am with my kids all day, every day. Being able to be with my family every day is what I love about homeschooling so much but there are times when you have to take a break, you have to take care of yourself. If you are not careful, you can begin to experience burnout.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am proud to be able to use my experience and passion to teach others about home education. I have been able to reach others through my blog, podcasts, and my social media. I am also able to be a consultant to new and potential homeschooling families. In addition to that, I am also running my very own micro-school that offers other families the opportunity to provide their children with all of the benefits of homeschooling without having to do the actual day-to-day work. I enjoy working with my clients to provide a program that offers individualized education with one-on-one attention. Public and private school just doesn’t work for every student. We are living in a time where our past views and ideas of education are rapidly changing. I am happy to be able to show how amazing and life-changing homeschooling can be for those looking for something different.
What matters most to you?
Being able to continue to provide my children with quality time and the best education that I can offer them is my first priority. I also want to create an environment of love and learning for my Learning Academy families.
