Rising Stars: Meet Travis Ware

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Ware.

Travis Ware

Hi Travis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got started in the entertainment industry at a very young age of 16, premiering on a television show called R.E.P Your City Music Television Show. After that show aired, I immediately had an interest in continuing to be on television and working in the entertainment industry. During undergrad at Benedict College (Columbia, SC) where I graduated with my BA in Mass Communications, I continue to be featured in a ton of reality television shows, radio, and local news while interviewing celebrities and public figures from all walks of life. I also landed a role with Sheen Magazine where I was the HBCU Correspondent. I would later create a show called “The Travis Ware Show” which was picked up at the time by a name well-known independent network channel. Still having an interest in radio, I also created “Real Talk with Travis Ware” which 3 seasons aired on Blog Talk Radio in which Season 2 of that show became one of the most listened to shows. After completing those shows, I wanted to get back to reality tv in which I did. I became a cast member on TSWDFL (Season 1-3) and Chasing Atlanta (Season 4), and my most recent new show, “The Group Chat”where I am one of the Co-Hosts and also one of the Executive Producers. I have also been featured on Fox Soul, The Shaderoom, and many other media outlets. Even though I have had many accomplishments, I continue to have a desire to learn. I’m currently enrolled online at Full Sail University, where I am working on my Master’s Degree in New Media Journalism and will be graduating next year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been the smoothest road. At times just like others, I was also told “No”…….which could have easily made me stop BUT I chose to continue to be myself and never adjust or change who I was to please anyone. My boldness, determination, and personality has allowed me to walk into doors that if I would have changed who I was, I would not have those opportunities.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m fortunate enough to have been on many reality television shows, etc but I’m not ashamed to say that I work a regular job just like everyone else. I recently become the Director for a Non-Profit Agency which has been a very rewarding experience.

Most know me from being a cast member of some very popular shows such as:

Season 4 of Chasing Atlanta
Seasons 1-3 of TSWDFL
Season 1 of The Group Chat

And my many viral television moments.

I am most proud that I stayed true to myself which ultimately worked in my favor to have been connected to so many supporters and fans across the world.

My most famous saying is “What’s up you guys, it is the one, the only, representing the BIG AND TALL section all across the world….it TRAVIS WARE”……..that particular quote is my savior and true representation of folks that don’t feel like they are seen. To the folks that feel that they are to big or to tall to be on tv. To the ones that don’t think they are beautiful enough or talented enough to fit in what society may call normal. To the ones that think just because you are gay that you are not man enough or masculine enough. You to matter! This quote is truly the movement that I’m proud to be a part of.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Lord, I have so many favorite childhood memories but the one that stands out that I will never forget which my family has heard many times is when me, my siblings and cousins were all at my great aunt’s house one particular summer and she had all gave us a slice of watermelon and told us to go outside and eat it. So that we did BUT my aunt had raised one of our cousins which in her eye she did no wrong and this particular day my cousin decided to knock my watermelon over. I immediately ran in the house to go tell my aunt and I ended up getting cursed out from her for telling on my cousin hahahaha. Even now in my 30s, I continue to let my great aunt and family know of this story that happened when I was a child and we all continue to laugh about it.
