Rising Stars: Meet Trivano Brown of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trivano Brown.

Hi Trivano, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey in the AV world actually started at my church back home in The Bahamas around 2001. We called our little production space “the tape room,” because we were recording services to VHS tapes back then though we also made CDs and handled audio, lighting, and projection. That experience introduced me to the fundamentals of media production running an audio mixer, lighting console, and projectors and even some early live streaming before I really understood how big that would become.

For a while, I didn’t take it seriously as a career. I explored other paths I even studied graphic design and briefly served as a police officer but nothing felt right. My passion was always tied to creativity and technology, even if I didn’t know how to define it at the time.

Everything changed when I started working for a full-service AV production company back in The Bahamas. That’s where I truly fell in love with the AV industry, especially the video side of it. I had the privilege of learning under a mentor named Bentley Jones, who really shaped the foundation of who I am as an AV professional today. He took me under his wing and gave freely of his time and knowledge, and I’ve carried those lessons with me ever since.

After getting married, I eventually moved to the U.S., starting over in a new country where I didn’t know anyone. I began working for a premiere AV company making just $13.75 an hour, but I worked hard and stayed committed to excellence. Before long, people started noticing my professionalism, reliability, and the pride I take in every production. I’ve always believed that if my name is attached to something, it should represent quality and integrity.

In 2019, I had a conversation with my aunt about what I do, and she simply said, “If you know all this, you should start your own business.” That comment really stuck with me. After talking it over with my wife, K’Donya, we decided to take a leap of faith and in 2020, we launched our first company, Mirus Audio Visual. The word Mirus means “extraordinary” and “remarkable,” which reflected what we wanted to bring to every project.

While Mirus helped us get started, it didn’t quite reflect who we were at our core. So, we rebranded the company to Omnific Media & Production “Omnific” meaning “all-creative.” That name captured our spirit perfectly. Since rebranding, we’ve made tremendous strides growing our connections, revenue, and reputation, and even collaborating with larger U.S.-based production companies on major events.

At Omnific, our focus is simple: bring our clients’ visions to life while balancing creativity, quality, Professionalism and Value. We pride ourselves on on those values, and my wife and I continue to grow the company every day, finding both traditional and unconventional ways to make our mark in this competitive AV industry. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every step.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggles faced would be just getting your foot in the door as a small Company competing against giants in this AV space, another would be the ever changing technology and keeping up with the newest advances in systems and new equipment as well as training. the biggest issue is probably client budgeting, AV alwasy has to negotiate because clients never have the budget for what they truly want and because of this negotiations become strained from the very beginning because we are unable to meet expectations due to lack of budget in being able to provide what clients need to make their vision reality, its always dumbed down to fit the budget. The Most hardest thing that we have encountered so far is not having a big enough name or being known enough to even have conversations with big companies, because theyve not heard of us we are automatically dismissed without even looking at a portfolio or anything, i just wish it was an easier way to be able to sit in these rooms with the decision makers and im sure we would be able to convince them of our value and how we can be an asset to their company

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
i specialize in the video aspect of av and media production, that includes but not limited to, cameras, media servers, high end switchers, projectors and projection mapping, Led walls and programming, Live streaming and Event recording, video over Ip and a few others thats not coming to mind right now. i am primarily known for video production shooting corporate videos, interviews etc and also im very known for high end switching and live streaming. i think what sets me apart from others is my commitment to what i do, the amount of studying and the drive to always learn more and master my craft, part of it is also being able to work well with different crews, inexperienced people as well as experienced seasoned individuals and companies, i would consider myself trustworthy and reliable, people put in an area and not worry about that are anymore because they know i got it, i would consider myself a Teacher, i teach AV on site as well as off site through my company, i really do care about teaching av and improving the overall quality of labor in Georgia and nationwide. im always available to answer a question or just to walk someone through a setup if needed. my intangibles, attention to details and work ethic are what separates me

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
i Define success as “how do clients and people in general remember you”. what were your contributions to what you love to do and the people involved. sometimes a failed event can be a success because of how you treat people and your willingness to work through the said failing aspects. clients and people remember you as the person to how and what you do and how you react vs just your skillset and attitude.

“the legacy will you leave behind will live longer than you”
