Today we’d like to introduce you to Vandana Singh.
Hi Vandana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, I’m also known as Vandana Orion (artist name), I am a filmmaker focusing on directing and producing musical narratives. At a young age my imagination grew and I became quite passionate about capturing moments in time that could become infinite through the magic of capturing photos and videos. I am currently taking my passion and work to the next level with the help of many rising musical artist.
I have curated a new series called “Virtual Runway” wherein each episode a different music artist and their story/style is featured through the art of cinema. It is a fresh take on music videos and storytelling. The series allows an audience across the world to get a cinematic insight and introduction to a new music artist. I’ve been craving to direct musical narratives throughout my entire film career, now with great support and dedication, Niz Kix Studios and I are putting it to picture.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s an ongoing journey of lessons in this wonderful industry of entertainment. From near death film set experiences, to getting manipulated and robbed of all the funds I had in my pocket. I would say they were all positive learning lessons to help guide me to where I am today and how I produce my own productions. There are many steps as an artist to create something with vulnerability to showcase to the world and hope for the audience to connect with your message. The challenges will always present themselves but, that’s truly my favorite part about directing because it allows me to tap into my creativity a bit deeper each time. As the great Director of Photography/Cinematographer Uri Ruffin would say, “Anything is possible!”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in directing and producing a new style of music videos and films. For many years prior to me directing I was pursuing acting for television and feature films, alongside commercial modeling for fashion brands. I recognized a different type of shift like never before with beauty standards; which then I knew I had to take matters into my own hands by creating and conveying a more realistic message to my youthful audience. I’m most proud of my ability to connect people to reality instead of the fabrications of technology. With “Virtual Runway” I am able to set myself apart by creating original episodes consisting of real people and real stories, of course with a little movie magic!
