Rising Stars: Meet Veronika Zaboleva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronika Zaboleva.

Hi Veronika, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always wanted the “cool kids” clothes but could never afford it, being that we were immigrated from Russia to Germany when I was two years old; my parents had to built their lives from scratch and by the time I was old enough to understand what I want and what I don’t (especially clothing vise) they have made big progress.

We always had enough money for everything but ofc as a teen you wanna wear expensive clothes and all that good stuff, we wasn’t wealthy enough. I was gifted with creativity and crafty hands so I started doing me, from recreating old clothes to make my own unique pieces, over to doing my own acrylic nails and for sure customizing sneakers. The idea of a clothing brand started to grow in the back of my head. I started doing actual designs from time to time but really took it serious when I was an Au Pair and lived in Tennessee and spend hours over hours doing my research and simply drawing designs. By the time I moved to Alabama, my first bulk order of t-shirts arrived. The Logo and name: so when people spoke to me, the first thing they would notice is my face tattoo I have a red upside-down question mark/Hook/flame on the left side of my face. So I used this to be my logo since everybody was curious about what it was whenever they met me. How about the name? As I mentioned earlier, I was living in Tennessee when I started working on the brand, the area I was living in was called Redbank but to be honest, my bank was really read at that time, so I thought it was really fitting.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My road here in America was bumpy in general and while I was busy moving states a lot because of circumstances in the Au Pair program I still had to focus on my brand and keep going. At the moment, I’m having trouble with selling and marketing my brand, because the algorithms on the social media apps has changed so much and I have a hard time catching up to it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In Germany, I had a little business going on with customizing sneakers, and it was gone pretty well, especially during Covid. A lot of people had nothing to do with the scroll on social media, and I use that for my own advantage sadly when I came to the US because I was moving so much and didn’t have the time to socialize in each state in a way that I would like to. It was harder for me to build clients.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have been to Atlanta twice and to be honest, I have not seen too much, but it seems like there’s always something to do and if you know somebody local, they’ll show you the hotspots
