Rising Stars: Meet Vivie Myrick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivie Myrick.

Vivie Myrick

Hi Vivie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a very small town right outside of Memphis, Tennessee. I started having an interest in performance at a young age when I saw Miley Cyrus in concert at age seven and started singing. I began taking voice lessons soon after and did that for years as well as musical theatre. I started doing TV and film around then as well and did some background work and commercials. In my senior year of high school, I booked George And Tammy. The show is on showtime and stars Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, I had the privilege of working with them closely for months, and the show truly changed my life. I decided to move to New York after I graduated.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The social aspects of my life as a kid and teenager were definitely a struggle. I went through severe bullying in high school and had to leave school to be homeschooled. Coming from such a small populated area being creative and in the arts, a lot of people didn’t understand it. I was constantly being brought down for being creative. I never let it stop me, I continued to pursue my career, and now I preach kindness above all. There is truly nothing more important than spreading kindness.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been creative all of my life! I make music, write scripts, and act. I love all things performance! I spend the majority of my time in New York auditioning and taking classes. I love being on camera and on stage! I recently was on George and Tammy, the show is incredible and truly grew my love even more for TV and film.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I owe almost everything to my mom, who has been supporting me since I first showed interest in the arts! She never pushed me to do something I didn’t want to, she always was there to encourage me and make sure I had every opportunity. I also have been working alongside an incredible acting teacher and mentor, Clifton Samuel for years now. He has coached me for every role, including George and Tammy.
