Rising Stars: Meet Westside Sei

Today we’d like to introduce you to Westside Sei.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I go by Sei pronounced like say. I Represent Nothing Into Something Ent. A process built from scratch

Born in Washington DC, A Virgo

Inspired by all genres, mainly gospel, rock, rap & anything melodic. I studied music & sound from my military upbringing as a kid. Lived in Japan, Hawaii, California, etc

Starting off playing the drums in church to later on writing for artists, then becoming a recording artist in 2017.

It’s something that’s always been in my every day since a child. A safe place, a free space.

I started creating my own musical sound in 2018 and by 2020 it was polished.

From 2019-2022, I took two years to create my first studio project “Truck Routes” releasing in 2023. I spent time in Ga shooting my photography for the project for it being like my second home. It was also where I went to college as well as being inspired by the vibes & southern hospitality.

My photographer is my best friend, Carla Cladd from GA, we met my freshman year in college. I visit Georgia still because it was a part of my life I look forward to building and growing still to this day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles were staying consistent..kinda how an athlete has to stay in the gym! I envisioned myself being a studio junkie… so I evolved & learned how to be more efficient while being in the studio…

Other than that I embraced the journey because it was inspiring.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In balance with music, I’m a licensed car salesman for the state of Maryland. This year makes it year 5.

I’m proud of life and its never-ending ways…

In my spare, I’m musically active in my community doing open mics, jam sessions & shows.

What sets me apart from others is my story and the path I was given .. this is honestly in alignment with it. I wanted to hoop for a living I could’ve picked.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to keep going! Be inspired by the process… “Know better do better. I’m not always perfect”.
