Rising Stars: Meet Yana Pidorvan of Newnan,GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yana Pidorvan.

Yana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an architect from Ukraine. After coming here,in Georgia more than 10 years ago I fall in love with local Southern style and started making art in chebby chic,Victorian, Southern style. I adore repurposing things and giving new life to old, forgotten or heirloom pieces. I am making jewelry, greeting cards, ornaments and other small home decor.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a new life in new country using another language is newer easy but interesting! It is such a blessing to have an opportunity to check yourself in new environment and create another, totally different kind of life then you had before. It is a challenge but I is so fascinating, is not it?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am making jewelry, greeting cards, ornaments and other small home decor. My main passion is giving new life to the broken, forgotten or heirloom pieces. Also I like collaboration with another artist. For example turning painting or urban sketches to the piece of jewelry. I newer make the same. Even if I have the same parts and pieces I will find the way how to make it in a little bit but different way.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I adore historical vibe and beautiful old architecture. It is a great mix of different cultures! Also I like this feeling of speed and pulse of big city! This city is renovating fast but still has a lot of abandoned areas. Also it is not enough public spaces, as parks, embankment and so on.
