We’re looking forward to introducing you to Anna Dauphin. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Anna, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Most people think a dance studio is just about learning to dance, but there are so many other valuable things about spending your time in the studio. Dance teaches confidence, discipline, creativity, and provides a supportive environment for connections to grow.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Anna Dauphin, and I am the Owner and Artistic Director of Dauphin Dance Center in Tucker, GA. Dauphin Dance Center is a studio for students ages 3-18, offering a variety of dance classes and vocal lessons. I am the lead teacher and choreographer at the studio, and I currently have six other amazing teachers on staff. We just celebrated our 5th anniversary last season, and recently launched our student performance company. Our company dancers are given more opportunities to perform and develop technique and artistry. We are looking forward to sharing our work around the metro-Atlanta area. My studio was built on a true passion for dance and teaching, and I strive to give every student and teacher a positive experience.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents, Susan and Clay Weibel, taught me everything I know about how to work hard to achieve my goals, manage money, and stand on my own. They have been nothing but supportive of my artistic goals since I was young. My mom in particular has taught me how to be organized and work in an efficient manner. Her example leading in the community has helped paved the way to my business’ success.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I tend to strive for perfection, and I think a fear of failure has held me back from executing my visions at times, whether that is in my choreography or studio business structure. If something isn’t perfect, it could be seen as a failure. I have learned over the years that perfection is impossible, and I try to give myself grace in trying new ideas.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would like to believe that my friends think I value honesty, transparency, and genuine human connection. I try to be a reliable figure and role model for all of my students. Within my studio, I strive to create a community where everyone feels comfortable expressing their true self.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Hands down, the days after any performance or recital. The amount of pride I get from seeing so many kids accomplish their goals and shine on stage gives me a great sense of peace. The creation of a show is months long, and I put my heart into it every step of the way. Seeing everything come together is the best feeling in the world! And it’s always perfect in an imperfect way.
