Story & Lesson Highlights with Antoinnette Rainey

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Antoinnette Rainey. Check out our conversation below.

Antoinnette, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think what’s most misunderstood about my business is that people look at it like it’s “just candles.” To me, it’s way deeper. It’s a form of self care and about creating experiences. Every candle I make has intention behind it, whether it’s the scent, the mood it sets, or the memory it brings up. Folks don’t always realize how much thought and creativity goes into handcrafting something that seems so simple.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Antoinnette, and I’m the owner of Splash Candles. I hand pour every single candle with love, because I believe candles should spark joy. What makes my brand special is that it’s about the vibes not just the scents. I want people to feel like they’re treating themselves every time they light one.

As of now, I’m teaching candle making workshops throughout Atlanta, because I love showing people the craft behind the product and helping them create something with their own hands. My story is really about turning creativity into community and giving people more than a product, but also a connection.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world tried to box me in, I was a quiet, curious, and creative little girl who always had big ideas. I loved to laugh, make things with my hands, and dream out loud. I was free, unfiltered, and unapologetically myself. Honestly, I’m still her, just grown now, and learning how to peel back all the expectations and rules so I can get back to that same fearless energy.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to have it all figured out right now. Be gentle with yourself. The things you think are flaws will one day be the things that make you stand out. You’re loved, you’re worthy, and you’re doing just fine.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I protect my authenticity at all costs. I don’t believe in watering myself down to fit in or chasing trends just to keep up. Being real, standing firm in who I am, and honoring where I come from is non-negotiable. That means showing up as my true self in my work, my brand, and my relationships. Because if I can’t be authentic, then what’s the point?

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived my life with love, laughter, and purpose. That I poured into people the way I poured into my work. I want the story to be that I wasn’t afraid to take risks, to create, and to stand in my truth. That I made people feel seen and inspired them to chase their own dreams. If folks can say I brought joy, comfort, and a little magic into their lives; whether through my candles, my words, or just my presence, then I’ll know I did what I was meant to do.
