We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jai. Check out our conversation below.
Jai, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Running has been my happy place. As a former college athlete, I’ve always looked to running as an escape or an outlet. After a long hiatus, I’ve redeveloped a passion for the process. I find that the mindset and discipline that comes from running starts to translate into so many other aspects of my life. Running gives me a moment to let loose, reflect, find peace and dig deep, all while making me a stronger person both physically and mentally.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Jai, also known as Jai Indi on social media. I am a content creator, focusing on fitness, nutrition and lifestyle as a Stay at Home Mom. My journey on social media has been a long one but creating content has always been a passion of mine. Dating back to photo shoots and vlogs as a teenager leading up to now, posting curated fitness content, nutrition advice and inspo, as well as small glimpses into my day-to-day balancing work, life and being a Mom.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with discipline has drastically shaped how I see myself. When I was younger I strayed away from discipline because it almost felt like restriction. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that discipline is actually what brings you into alignment. Discipline is keeping the promises you make to yourself even when you don’t feel like it. When you keep those promises to yourself you start to see results. And when you start to see results, you begin to trust yourself. And through that trust you become more confident in who you are and what you’re capable of doing.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I have an interesting and long relationship with grief. I lost 5 very important people within the year 2020 and that changed me forever. The only way to heal from grief is through patience and compassion for yourself. Through my own healing, I’ve noticed that this has extended outside of just me and in turn I’ve become alot more patient and compassionate with everyone around me. We’re all just humans, learning through lived experiences and none of us are here forever. Grace is necessary. Grace is healing.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I feel like there’s beauty in showing up as yourself unapologetically. I love who I am and I don’t mind sharing that with the world.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would probably stop waiting for “perfect” moments. I find myself always planning everything out to be done under the perfect circumstances when in reality, those circumstances usually never come to exist. No time is ever going to feel like the “perfect” time. I need to learn how to just execute once I’ve come up with a complete plan. Maybe I’ll start practicing now.
