Jamilah Conway shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Jamilah, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Once I wake up in the morning I always straighten my bed. Straightening your bed really sets the standard for your whole room. After that, I will clean up my entire room so while I’m busy at meetings etc I can come back to a clean room. Having a clean room helps you think clearer and less cluttered. I then move around to complete house chores like sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wash clothes etc. Once I’ve completely cleaned up I fix my favorite raspberry tea or oriental tea with honey. After having my tea, I begin viewing my emails for meetings for the day. I may have 2-3 meetings depends on the day all meetings are held. After my meetings I decompress with exercises to maintain my energy and health. Furthermore, after my wellness session I then start creating content for my social media accounts to stay connected with my audience.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey everyone! My name is Jamilah Conway. I am an Alumna of The Great Bethune Cookman University. I received my Bachelors in Liberal Studies concentration in Exercise Science/Health & Wellness minor in Athletic Training. With 17 Yrs+ of experience in this inspiring industry (Professionally & Self-Taught), I was able to obtain endless knowledge and certifications. I then grew a passion for Health and Wellness. Here at JCXSHRED LLC we provide not only our services for training and coaching, but we now sell fitness equipment, and fitness wear.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationships with “friends” shaped how I view myself because not everyone was really my “friend” like I thought they were. After finding out a lot of people I’ve became good friends with for years were not for me, my perspective changed completely. I learned who was genuinely there for me and who wanted to use me because of my resources and my strengthens. Whenever I went through a tough time, I saw how those “friends” were there for me. Most of the “friends” I cut off loved when I was down and out and didn’t have much but I was always there for them. After learning that, my intuition told me they were not an asset to my life they were a liability. After setting boundaries for myself, it helped me maintain good health in all my current friendships. I’m grateful for the select few I have been friends with for over 10 yrs.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
“If you stay down you won’t see progress, but if you get up and do your best you will see results.” -Jamilah C.
I say this because suffering requires someone to stay sad, stay silent and not being optimistic about situations. Suffering teaches you what stagnation means verses what success does. No, I’m not saying everything in life is peaches and creme, but you can always pick yourself up, dust your shoulders off and keep pushing to be and stay successful despite doubting yourself of opportunities to be and stay successful in your career.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m very committed to having more fitness equipment made by JCXSHRED available for those who are active in certain sports much as golf, pickleball, yoga and more. This project will showcase that JCXSHRED is more than just fitness training and nutritional coaching, but that we enjoy a variety of sports and want everyone to enjoy what they love doing on their spare time.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
This is a great question! I feel most peace when I’m outdoors in my garden, being in nature, cleaning my space, exercising, relaxing in my steam sauna and going on vacation. Finding healthy ways to decompress from everyday activities helps reduce stress levels.
