We’re looking forward to introducing you to Keisha Spencer. Check out our conversation below.
Keisha, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Working in the film industry because it’s such a creative space.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

As an international best-selling author, speaker, and certified coach, she brings a heart for service to everything she does.
Whether working on set, supporting creatives, or developing projects that matter, K Marie is committed to growth, purpose, and telling meaningful stories along the way.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was a child, I used to believe that success was something reserved for people who already came from money. In my mind, wealth created opportunities, connections, and resources that the average person just couldn’t access. But as I grew older and gained more life experience, I realized that while money can open doors, it’s not the only key. True success is built on hard work, determination, and the willingness to keep moving forward even when things get tough.
What I’ve learned is that perseverance often outweighs privilege. People who don’t start with financial advantages usually develop resilience, creativity, and problem-solving skills that money can’t buy. Hard work creates momentum, and determination sustains it. That mindset shift showed me that success isn’t just inherited — it’s created. It’s not about where you start, but how willing you are to stay committed to the journey.
Now, I know that success belongs to anyone who’s willing to put in the work, stay consistent, and refuse to quit on themselves.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
In 2020, during the pandemic, I discovered that I was far more powerful than I had ever given myself credit for. At that time, I was wrestling with limited beliefs, heartbreak from a separation, and financial struggles that felt overwhelming. As a single mom with little support, I found myself relying on government assistance just to keep my household afloat. While I was grateful for the help, I knew deep down that I didn’t want that to be my story forever. I wanted to create a better life for myself and my children.
That season forced me to look within and identify my true gifts — the things I had overlooked or underestimated for so long. I realized those gifts could not only sustain me but also create opportunities and revenue. Out of my deepest pain, I began to see the birth of my purpose. I co-authored a book called Broken Crayons Still Color: Life After, where my chapter, “My Pain Became My Purpose,” allowed me to share a piece of my story with the world. That experience opened a door to healing and gave me the courage to keep pressing forward.
Soon after, I created a self-help workbook titled What’s My Assignment? The Journey to Discovering Your Purpose. This wasn’t just a resource for others — it became a lifeline for me. Even today, it continues to serve as a reminder of how far I’ve come and how important it is to stay connected to purpose, no matter what life throws at you.
What I learned in that season is that even in brokenness, there is beauty. Even in pain, there is purpose. And even in struggle, there is strength waiting to be discovered.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is very much the real me. I aspire to bring joy, positivity, and wisdom into every room I enter, and I want that energy to be felt by everyone I interact with. I named my business Hype Me Up K Marie because that embodies who I am at my core — someone who uplifts, celebrates, and amplifies the talents and voices of others.
My mission is to create solutions for entertainers and entrepreneurs who may not yet have a brand identity or an attractive presence. I help them shine, craft their narrative, and step confidently into the spotlight — whether it’s through personal branding, event hosting, or educational support.
Being a host, actress, educator, and speaker has given me the incredible opportunity to live authentically while sharing positive energy with others. I genuinely believe that authenticity is magnetic, and that when you show up fully as yourself, you inspire others to do the same.
At the heart of everything I do is this guiding principle: celebrate others, create solutions, and always bring your own light into the room.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Becoming successful and financially free. I would love for my kids to see a life without as much struggle that I endured.
