Story & Lesson Highlights with Natasha Aladin of Decatur

We recently had the chance to connect with Natasha Aladin and have shared our conversation below.

Natasha, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me as a boutique owner starts early, often with checking emails and messages from suppliers to confirm inventory or track shipments, followed by a quick review of sales from the previous day. I usually open the shop mid-morning, making sure the displays are refreshed and styled to keep the store looking inviting and seasonal. Throughout the day, I balance welcoming and assisting customers with behind-the-scenes tasks like updating social media, managing online orders, and tracking inventory. There are always little details to handle—whether it’s rearranging racks, or brainstorming promotions. By closing time, I note what’s running low, and usually spend the evening planning for upcoming events or sourcing new pieces that reflect my boutique’s style. Every day has a rhythm, but there’s always something new to keep me engaged and inspired.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Fashion has been a lifelong passion of mine, and opening my own boutique was a dream I carried for many years. In 2011, I finally brought that dream to life with the launch of Natasha Couture Fashion. At Natasha Couture Fashion, we focus on creating a personalized shopping experience, helping each client find pieces that fit their individual style. Our collection blends current fashion trends with unique items you won’t typically come across elsewhere.

What means the most to me is the community we’ve built over the years—our loyal clients and the incredible word-of-mouth support throughout Atlanta. Their enthusiasm inspires me every day and reminds me why I fell in love with fashion in the first place.

Doing what I love has always been my dream, and I feel truly fortunate that Natasha Couture Fashion allows me to share that passion with others.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that deeply reshaped how I view the world was when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everything shut down. As a boutique owner, it was an unexpected and humbling pause that forced me to reflect on what truly matters—connection, resilience, and adaptability. Suddenly, the vibrant world of fashion and shopping was replaced by uncertainty and isolation, which highlighted just how important community is, not only in business but in life. It taught me to appreciate the small joys and the strength that comes from supporting each other through challenges. That period opened my eyes to the value of slowing down and being present, no matter the circumstances.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be to not take life too seriously and to remember to enjoy the journey. While ambition and hard work are important, it’s just as vital to have fun, laugh often, and embrace the unexpected moments. Life is meant to be savored, and sometimes the best lessons come when you lighten up and allow yourself to simply enjoy the ride.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Spotting the difference between a fad and a real shift in fashion means looking beyond what’s just hot for a minute. Fads pop up quickly—often thanks to social media or celebrities—and then vanish just as fast. Real shifts, though, stick around season after season because they reflect what people truly care about, like sustainability, comfort, or timeless style. In my boutique, I focus on what customers keep coming back for and what actually changes how they dress, not just what’s trending online this week.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe this is what I was born to do. Being in the fashion industry and running my own boutique feels like a perfect fit for who I am—combining creativity, hard work, and connection with people. It’s more than just a job; it’s a passion that energizes me every day, and I’m grateful to turn what I love into something meaningful that brings joy to others.
