Story & Lesson Highlights with The Justin Douglas of Metro atlanta

We’re looking forward to introducing you to The Justin Douglas. Check out our conversation below.

Justin, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My days are a blend of creativity and structure. Mornings start with quiet reflection, music, tea, and a little planning. By midday, I’m usually deep in glam sessions or on-set for Love & Hip Hop or other productions. Evenings are where I reset, editing Motivational Mondays content, handling media calls, or brainstorming my next project. Every day looks different, but purpose is the constant

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Justin Douglas, and I’m a professional celebrity makeup artist, creative visionary, and founder of The Justin Douglas Brand. Over the past decade, I’ve built my name through artistry, storytelling, and consistency, from working on shows like Love & Hip Hop and The Braxtons, to creating my own motivational platform called Motivational Mondays.

What makes my brand unique is that it lives at the intersection of beauty, media, and motivation. I don’t just create looks, I create moments. Every brushstroke, every conversation, and every project is about inspiring confidence and connection. I believe in using beauty as a storytelling tool, not just to enhance faces, but to reflect purpose.

I recently launched my debut book, Soft Glam, Real Talk: A Motivational Manifesto, which blends my creative journey with lessons in resilience, growth, and authenticity. It’s more than a book, it’s the voice of a generation of artists learning to balance hustle with healing.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my media imprint, Justin Douglas Media, developing partnerships, and preparing for the upcoming premieres of Love & Hip Hop and The Braxtons this season. My mission is simple: to make history in beauty and leave an imprint that motivates others to believe that their story, no matter where it begins, deserves to shine.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was simply Justin, a curious, creative kid from Hollywood, Florida who found peace in self-expression. I was always drawn to transformation, even before I knew what makeup artistry or media meant. I saw beauty in moments, in people, and in possibility.

Growing up, I didn’t always feel understood. I learned early that people often try to define you based on their comfort zones, not your potential. But even as a child, I had this quiet belief that I was meant to create, to make people feel something. Over time, I realized that the very things that made me different were the things that would make me successful.

So much of my early journey was about reclaiming my name, my voice, and my purpose, learning that I didn’t have to fit into anyone’s version of who I should be. That realization is what shaped The Justin Douglas Brand. It’s about owning your story, your timing, and your truth, because authenticity is the real success story.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were definitely moments I almost gave up, especially in those seasons when I was working nonstop, showing up for everyone else, but quietly wondering if anyone really saw me. I’ve had times in my career where opportunities were taken away, relationships shifted, and it felt like I had to start from scratch. Those were the moments that tested my purpose.

But I learned something powerful in those valleys, that even when everything around you feels uncertain, your why has to be unshakable. I remembered why I started: to create, to inspire, and to make people feel seen through my art. That realization helped me push through.

Every time I thought about walking away, something reminded me, an email, a message from someone inspired by my journey, or a call from a producer I never expected. Those divine confirmations showed me I was still in alignment. I realized resilience isn’t about never feeling tired; it’s about remembering your purpose when you do.

I’m glad I didn’t quit. The same moments that almost broke me ended up building the foundation for who I am today, The Justin Douglas.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is absolutely the real me, it’s just the polished version. What people see online or on camera is rooted in truth, but it’s also curated with intention. I’ve learned that being visible doesn’t mean being exposed, it means being purposeful about what you share and how you share it.

The energy, confidence, and inspiration people connect with online are all real parts of me. But behind the scenes, I’m also quiet, reflective, and deeply human. I need moments of stillness to recharge so that when I do show up, I’m grounded and genuine.

Over the years, I’ve realized that authenticity isn’t about oversharing, it’s about alignment. My goal is to make sure that what people see publicly aligns with who I truly am privately: an artist, a visionary, and a man who leads with heart and purpose.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was someone who made purpose look powerful. That I didn’t just chase dreams, I built something meaningful that inspired others to believe in themselves. I want my story to remind people that you can come from anywhere, go through anything, and still rise with grace, discipline, and vision.

My legacy isn’t just about makeup, television, or media. It’s about transformation, the kind that happens inside and out. I want people to remember that I gave more than I took, that I used my gifts to uplift others, and that I wasn’t afraid to evolve publicly and privately.

When people speak my name, I want them to feel motivated to start, to believe, and to finish strong. Because if my journey can light the way for someone else to find their own, then I’ve done what I came here to do.
