Tracey , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
The last time I felt true joy was when I sat at my sewing machine, completely present in the moment, creating something with my own two hands that I knew would serve someone else. There’s something about stitching fabric together that feels like stitching together pieces of myself — my creativity, my love for my community, and my desire to give back. In those quiet moments, I feel at peace, knowing that I am living in my truth, doing what I was meant to do. Joy, for me, is not just about a single happy moment — it’s about living a life that feels aligned, where I can create, serve, and take care of myself and loved ones. Choosing a healthy lifestyle, inner peace, and purpose every day allows me to live my best life, and when I do, that’s when joy comes naturally.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Tracey, the heart and hands behind The Creator’s Studio and The Tracey Show. I’m a passionate sewing educator, and community advocate who believes in using creativity to bring people together. My brand is all about making sewing approachable and empowering — whether it’s through classes, helpful resources, or handmade pieces that make people feel confident and cared for. What makes my work special is that it’s not just about fabric and thread; it’s about building connections, inspiring creativity, and encouraging others to live in their truth. Right now, I’m working on new ways to share sewing knowledge with the community, from beginner-friendly guides to creative classes that make learning fun and practical. My goal is to help people not only discover the joy of sewing, but also experience the peace and fulfillment that comes from creating something meaningful with their own two hands.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What often breaks the bonds between people is a lack of communication, misunderstanding, or simply forgetting to see one another with compassion. When we stop listening, stop showing up, or allow pride, hurt, or fear to take over, those bonds begin to fray. Life’s challenges can also pull us apart when we’re moving too fast to truly connect.
What restores those bonds is intentional effort — choosing to listen with an open heart, practicing forgiveness, and extending grace. Connection is rebuilt when we take the time to truly understand each other and remember that we are all human, all learning, and all worthy of love. Acts of service, sharing creativity, and spending time together doing something meaningful — like sewing for a cause or working on a project that uplifts the community — can bring people back together and remind us of our shared humanity. Healing bonds takes patience, but it’s possible when we choose love, empathy, and truth.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would tell her to always walk with confidence and hold her head high. I’d remind her that her standards and expectations are not “too much” — they are exactly what will guide her toward the life she deserves. I’d tell her to never settle for less than what feels right in her spirit and to stop worrying about what others think, because their opinions don’t define her worth. I’d reassure her that staying true to herself, even when it feels hard, will lead to peace, purpose, and a life she can be proud of.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A belief I’m deeply committed to — no matter how long it takes — is the importance of education and lifelong learning. I believe that knowledge has the power to transform lives, open doors, and create opportunities not just for individuals but for entire communities. For me, learning doesn’t stop when school ends; it’s a continuous journey that allows us to grow, evolve, and better serve others. Whether it’s through sewing education, personal development, or community programs, I’m committed to creating spaces where people can learn new skills, discover their potential, and gain the confidence to use their gifts. This is a lifelong project for me because empowering people through education is one of the most impactful ways to change the world — and that’s worth every moment it takes.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived with purpose, passion, and kindness — that I used my gifts to serve others and left the world a little better than I found it. I want my story to be one of creativity and courage, where I inspired others to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, and never settle for less than they deserve. I hope people remember that I loved deeply, gave generously, and stayed true to who I was, no matter what others thought. Most of all, I want them to say that I lived a life of peace, joy, and integrity — that I stitched together moments of beauty and connection that will keep inspiring others long after I’m gone.
