Check Out Antonio McGaha’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio McGaha.

Hi Antonio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in a small rural town called Tishomingo, Mississippi. I grew up in a very musical family that includes my mother, father, and sister who all sing and play musical instruments. As a young man, it was always my dream to eventually move to Atlanta, Georgia and to attend Morehouse College. I was provided that opportunity in 1997. Unfortunately going into my senior year, I was falsely accused of defrauding an environmental science program that I participated in the semester before and was suspended from Morehouse. I spent over 15 years in litigation working to clear my name of this alleged wrongdoing.

During that 15 years period, I got reacquainted with my first love, which was music, and started singing and playing drums at a local church. I was eventually inspired to start writing songs and to pursue a career as a gospel artist. Though I grew up singing in church, I never felt that I was strictly a gospel singer. This perspective is what ultimately led me to become the r&b-soul singer/songwriter that I am today. As an artist, I have released several pieces of inspirational and r&b music that you can find on my website www.toniosmusic.com or any digital music platforms such as Itunes, AppleMusic, or Spotify. I truly believe that music is one of the highest forms of creativity and I consider it my personal mission to consistently create and provide art that is visually and musically stimulating, educational, empowering, and positively inspiring!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. As I mentioned before, I was wrongfully expelled from Morehouse College and spent 15-plus years to clear my name of the alleged wrongdoing. I would have graduated in 2001 but instead was only recently able to acquire my degree in social work two years ago (2020). During this time, I have also gone thru a divorce and had to completely rebuild my life while dealing with the turbulent and emotional turmoil that comes with this situation in particular.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an r&b-soul singer/songwriter here in the Atlanta, Georgia. My music comes from the very heart and soul of who I am. It is authentic, inspirational, with a feel good vibe. I work very hard to stay in my lane musically and although I listen and study the greats such as Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway just to name a few, I remain true to who I am sonically, visually, and with my lyrical content as well. I believe this is what sets me apart from others. I am most proud of the fact that I have not given up along this journey in music though it has certainly had its up and downs. My music can be found at www.toniosmusic.com

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The things that make me happy are spending time with my family and friends, traveling and exploring new things, creating music, and being spiritually, mentally, and physically at my best!

They are all indicators for me that all is well in my life and that I am rightly aligned with where I am supposed to be.
