Today we’d like to introduce you to Quartishar Hodge.

Hi Quartishar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2019, I was diagnosed with Small Nerve Fiber Neuropathy along with Fibromyalgia, which causes chronic joint, muscle, and nerve pain throughout the body. It took two years of seeing multiple doctors, going through numerous uncomfortable tests, and long stays at the hospital to finally have an answer to what was wrong with me. Even though I was relieved to now know the exact cause of my pain, it didn’t change the fact that this was something I might have to live with for the rest of my life. Now, unable to work and do the little things I was used to doing daily, I had to find the right tools and lifestyle that would help me manage my chronic pain. My daily routine now consists of eating healthier foods, exercising (when able), and mediation. The most important tool I’ve learned to incorporate into my lifestyle is rest, but for many of us, including myself it can be hard to sit still for an extended time. To help with this, I found by adding aromatherapy to my routine while relaxing heightens my senses and instantly relaxes my mind and body. This enabled me to create my own soy candle line and company called Third Eye Candle Co., which offers thoughtful scented vegan/non-toxic aromatherapy soy candles and other organic self-care products. Each candle’s scent is inspired by its ethereal name and all products are designed to help keep the mind and body calm and relaxed.

It brings me great joy to know that something I’ve created for myself at my own pace is now being enjoyed and helpful to others. Even those without a chronic disease can luxuriate and enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While still growing my company, it can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing myself to other businesses in the same industry; To measure their immediate success to the pace that is meant for me to follow. Self-doubt can be lurking around, but I always try to remind myself of the initial reason I started Third Eye Candle Co., which was to share what I found helpful for me with others.

Our hand-poured ethereal aromatherapy soy candles are thoughtfully made in small batches using 100% U.S. grown paraffin-free soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils infused with premium essential oils, and paired with lead/zinc free natural braided cotton wicks for a clean burning experience.
